Buying secondhand and shopping sustainably is now the way to go. Not only do you get to save the planet, you’d also get to save yourself from burning a hole in your wallet.

Bundle shopping can be fun, but it can also be very tedious and tiring. Lucky for you, we’ve got some tips on how you can have a better bundle shopping experience.

1. Know what type of clothing you want

Have an idea of what you want beforehand to save time. Look for outfit inspirations and pick out your favourite pieces for a certain outfit or to pair with the rest of your wardrobe.

2. Scan the racks thoroughly

Try not to rush the process! Make sure you take your time to scan each rack. You never know if that hidden gem is tucked away behind something. If you don’t have the time, try out curated thrift or vintage stores that suit your style.

3. Double check the pieces

Always, ALWAYS check the clothes and take your time with it. From the stitches and the material, to the hardware, detailing, and zippers.

4. Find materials that will age well

Look for materials like 100% cotton, high quality denim, jersey, and silk in colours and prints that are timeless. Try not to settle for polyester or materials that require expensive and extensive cleaning.

5. Don’t be fooled by ‘vintage’ and branded items

Just because it’s secondhand, does not mean it’s authentic. Be wary of cheap prices that seem a little too good to be true and try to learn how to authenticate pieces.

6. Visit your favourite store often after their restocks

Follow your favourite stores’ social media pages (if they have any) to make sure you don’t miss out on the restocks! Try to visit the physical stores often too and note which stores have the best types of clothing items. Clothing is cycled through fast, so you have to be faster.

7. Wear comfortable clothing and stay hydrated

You might break up a sweat while looking through hundreds and thousands of clothes, so wear thin and comfortable clothing you can move around in. You can even wear tight-fitted clothes so you can try items on the spot. Bring a bottle of water and a face mask as well if you’re sensitive to dust.

8. Learn how to make alterations

Love a piece of clothing but it’s too big for you? No sweat! Just learn how to make small alterations. If you have the extra budget, you can even look for a tailor to help.

7 Upcoming Games To Play Before The PS5 Releases

The next generation may be coming, but don’t sleep on these amazing upcoming titles coming out in 2020

Written by Aqil Nasri

2020 is here ladies and gentlemen, and boy is it going to be a remarkable one. The official 9th console generation will be finally launched to the public by this holiday season. Expect amazing graphical updates, faster loading times, exceptional designs and amazing triple-A quality games to be released on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

So, if you’re thinking of venturing on and exchanging your old consoles for money to buy the upcoming new ones, just stop.

Seriously, don’t do it yet.

The year has just started and both the PS4 and Xbox One still have a lot of amazing upcoming triple-A games in production. These games are being produced and made by renowned gaming companies, such as CD Projekt Red, Naughty Dog, and Capcom. These are the sort of companies that produces highly lauded games loved by fans and critics alike. So, you can bet that the quality’s going to be there.

As such, I’ve compiled a list of ten must-play games that’s going to come out in 2020. Let us know if you have more suggestions in the comments below!

  • Doom Eternal (PS4, XBONE, PC) – March 20
  • After releasing a killer reboot of DOOM back in 2016, id Software is back at again with the sequel to the critically acclaimed game. Doom Eternal is set to release this Spring, and it is definitely not holding back in terms of gore and brutality. This time, Hell is coming to Terra Firma (the Earth-like realm in the game), so expect another level of craziness in terms of environment designs and gameplay. Let’s face it, killing out of this world demons/enemies with absolute bonkers weaponry has always been fun. Especially when you have a gun that’s literally called BFG (Big Fucking Gun).
  • Resident Evil 3 Remake (PS4, XBONE, PC) – April 3
  1. Yes, people, it’s official. Resident Evil 3 is getting a remake for the current generation of consoles and PC, and that means that we’ll get to see our favourite villain, Nemesis, in its true horrifying 4k form. This was a surprise for me. I did not expect Capcom to announce a new RE remake so soon. They just released the Resident Evil 2 Remake early last year, and now a new one’s coming out? What did we do to deserve such a blessing?

Also, the RE3 Remake will include a newly spin-off multiplayer mode called Project Resistance, which pits 4 online survivors against another single online player who will play the role of the gamemaster, in which he controls the layout and the zombies that the survivors must fight through. This mode definitely sounds interesting.

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4 Timed Exclusive) – April 10
  • Do you know when they say that if you wish for something hard enough, it’ll eventually come true? I guess that saying finally worked, as Final Fantasy 7 is finally getting a remake that’s coming out this April!Fans have been clamouring for this title ever since the early days of the PS3. The newly updated slick visuals with revamped tactical gameplay are making fans excited. Fans can’t wait to get back into the boots of Cloud and save the world again.
  • The Last of Us: Part II (PS4) – May 29
  • Oh boy, what more can I say that others haven’t about The Last of Us: Part II? The first game won so many accolades and awards that critics and fans heralded it as one of the best games of the generation. The story between Ellie and Joel touched the hearts of many, as it was easily relatable with many of us out in the real world. The sequel is set to continue five years where the original game left off. This time, players are controlling Ellie, with the stakes looking higher than ever.

The game was originally supposed to come out in February but was delayed to May in order to polish it more. Honestly, I don’t care how long the game is going to take, as I fully believe in Naughty Dog’s capabilities.

  • Marvel’s Avengers (PS4, XBONE, PC) – September 4
  • Ever since the MCU came into light back in 2008, the popularity of the Marvel franchise has soared to unbelievable heights. Now, almost everyone in the world would recognize Iron Man and Captain America! But there hasn’t really been an actual solid game based on the Marvel Universe. Sure, there was that Thor movie tie-in game back in 2011, but it was utter garbage. The upcoming game by Crystal Dynamics aims to change people’s perception of games based on the Marvel Universe. With a star-studded cast of voice actors such as Troy Baker, Nolan North, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, and Jeff Schine, surely things would not go wrong. Players get to control Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Ms. Marvel. Also, with 4-player coop, this game is set to be a blast with friends.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4, XBONE, PC) September 17
  • Cyberpunk 2077 has been making headlines ever since it’s first announcement. Especially after that famous Keanu Reeves moment on stage at E3 2019. CD Projekt Red has created an incredibly detailed world for Cyberpunk 2077. Set in Night City, the futuristic metropolis of the world where players will spend most of their time in. the world of Cyberpunk looks incredibly cool. With human modifications and human enhancements, there will be tons of gameplay options that will definitely excite anyone playing the game. Also, coming from the creators of the amazing Witcher 3, I’m sure this game will be one of the best there is.
  • Ghost of Tsushima (PS4) – Summer 2020
  • When Sucker Punch announced the game back in 2017, no one expected it to be a Sucker Punch game as it was a far cry from the games that they usually produce, such as the Infamous and Sly Cooper franchises. In this game, you play as a swordsman known as “The Ghost”, who must fight against the invading Mongol Empire. The game is set in the year 1274, where some of the events unfold based on actual historical events. So far, the graphics and the gameplay look really solid and intense! No concrete release date has been set yet for the game, but it was rumoured to come out in the Summer of 2020.

Food Origins: Yee Sang

Find out how this illustrious Prosperity Toss dish came to be

Written by Aqil Nasri

If you’re a Malaysian Chinese or a Malaysian in general, you must have heard of Yee Sang, one of the most anticipated traditions whenever the annual Chinese New Year celebration comes around. The tossing of dishes of shredded vegetables with strips of raw fishes high up in the air is synonymous with CNY celebrations, up to the point where if it’s not done, the celebration simply won’t feel as complete.

Known as a special meal that celebrates all things auspicious, this dish is a major symbol of luck, prosperity, and fortune. The dish would normally contain strips of raw fish and shredded vegetables that would be mixed with a variety of sauces and condiments. Also, a vegetarian version of the dish also exists, where the fish strips are replaced by soy “fish”.

However, did you know that the version of Yee Sang that Malaysians generally consume and share over during Chinese New Year is not common at all in China? That this dish is only really celebrated in the Southeast Asia region? Well if you don’t, then read on to find out the real origins of Yee Sang.

Now, the origins of Yee Sang has been a hot topic that’s been debated furiously between the citizens of Malaysia and Singapore.

According to Leng Wai Chan, the author of “A Toss of Yee Sang”, it was actually revealed that a Chinese immigrant who settled in Seremban during the 1920s was the original creator of the famous dish. The name of the man was Loke Ching Fatt, and he decided in order to beef up his catering business, he needed to do something drastic. Something that customers would remember him by long after he was gone.

So, he created his own brand of Yu Sheng, which he then called it Sup Kum Yee Sang (Tenth Sense Yee Sang). The meaning behind the name is in direct reference to Buddhism, in which it is the belief of being able to sense infinite dimensions!

The response from the dish that he created was absolutely out of this world. People would literally come from all over the country to try out his invention! The popularity that was garnered from Loke Ching Fatt’s Yee Sang was so immense that the various communities around Malaysia started adapting his Yee Sang into their own. As such, the Yee Sang that Malaysians enjoy today all stems from that one original recipe.

However, according to BBC, an entirely different story surfaces about the history of this prosperous dish.

The original combination of the dish was brought to Singaporean shores back in the 1930s, with four Singaporean chefs combining their skills in creating their own recipe for the dish back in 1964.

Because of their unbelievable creation that resulted in a widespread cultural following, they were held to such high esteem that the four chefs were then known as the “Four Heavenly Kings”. Wow, that’s certainly saying something.

As such, because of these two completely different stories in claiming the origins of Yee Sang, people from both countries have been fighting tooth and nails in claiming which country the cultural heritage actually belongs to.

However, if people were to really research on the origins, you can clearly see which country actually founded the dish. If you check Malaysia’s National Heritage List, you can see that Yee Sang has actually been put into the list since 2009! Singapore has yet to even put the dish into its Cultural Heritage List. Also, don’t forget that Singapore was once part of Malaysia too. They only broke out of Malaysia since 1965, so it’s no surprise that the origins of certain cultural heritage items be confused by people.

In the end, it doesn’t matter where the food comes from, or who has the first idea on its creation. Yee Sang has been a staple in the Chinese community, as it represents abundance, prosperity, and vigor.

As long as it brings out the best in people, then who are we to argue where it came from?

LUST brings out the “21st Century Spy” in us with latest MV

“Get your head out of the gutter”

Written by Aqil Nasri

Fresh off winning the award for best album at Tapau awards last year, their list of achievements just keeps on growing with the release of their latest music video titled “21st Century Spy”. Wow, what a way to end the previous year and start the new year.

“Tekesima” has been an absolute gem, and it’s been proven again with this absolute banger.

Tekesima Album Artwork

21st Century Spy sings the tales about us, the current generation and the way we are living our lives. The advent of social media has allowed people to “stalk” others in a relatively easier way when compared to before, leading to unwanted truths being spoiled over and unwanted stories being shared across the world. Stories of toxic masculinity, problem avoidance, and infidelity are such examples that the song highlights.

Directed and produced by Shazwan Zulkiffli and Hakim Malik, with support from Kekabumi and editor, Ari Adzmin, the music video results in a direct reflection of the song, conveying scenes of impatiennt conversations, hedonistic levels of enjoyment, and unreciprocated love that sums up the 21st century generation.

Be sure to keep an extra eye out when watching the video, as there are tons of Easter eggs that are cleverly hidden throughout the whole video. (Hint: 0:25)

If you want more of LUST, check out “Tekesima” on Spotify now!
