Nicol David and Deborah Henry #MakeAPromise

If you have no idea what #MakeAPromise is, its a campaign where Louis Vuitton partners with UNICEF to support children in need. Their aim is to raise funds for the organization and give support to children who are exposed to conflict, diseases, natural disasters and other situations that threaten their safety and well-being.

How does the campaign work, you ask? Louis Vuitton has launched a special edition Silver Lockit that has a lock pendant with Louis Vuitton’s monogram on it. It is inspired by the unpick-able tumbler lock invented by Georges Vuitton in 1890 as a symbol of protection—also sealing one’s promise to help children in urgent need. The Lockit is available in necklace and bracelet form that are being sold for RM2,300 each in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide and on louisvuitton.com/lvforunicef. With each purchase, RM900 will be donated to UNICEF. Alongside the Silver Lockit, Louis Vuitton’s digital campaign #MAKEAPROMISE aims to raise awareness and funds around the world at the occasion of the sixth biennial UNICEF Ball in Los Angeles.

Recently, our very own Datuk Nicol David and Deborah Henry have joined the campaign in making a promise to help children that are in urgent need and to make the world a better place for them. Aside from being one of the world’s top female squash players, Datuk Nicol David has devoted her time to raisefunds for the National Heart Institution as well as relief aid for the tsunami and earthquake victims in Japan. Former Miss Universe Malaysia, Deborah Henry co-founded Fugee School, a non-profit charity organisation dedicated to providing education to refugee children from war-torn Somalia. This time they join hands with Louis Vuitton and UNICEF’s mission to provide children with essential protection, healthcare, safe water, nutrition and education. If you wish to be part of the campaign and help these children, you can get your own Silver Lockits now in any Louis Vuitton outlet now.

The “Puting Beliung” A Custom Harley Davidson Sportster By Beautiful Machines

Handcrafted poetry in motion, lives up to it’s name the “Puting Beliung” which also means the tornado. It moves the earth and your soul.

Billy Guan, better known as Billy Fun work in his workshop, the Beautiful Machines just outside of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is his version of the Award Winning Harley Davidson Sportster. The bike itself obviously have it decent set of mitts about them. This stunning steampunk concept Sportster recently took home the Radicale HD award at the Kuching International Bike Week. While the details are sparse, we know the competition rules forbid modifications to engine cases or frames.

With everything else in their go, Billy and his team took things to the next level when they hand craft their custom Harley Davidson Sportster. The front cowl has a robotic vibe into it, but bike lines flow seamlessly through the tank. The suspended seat even looks gorgeous, as is that rear brake linkage assembly and welded intake tube.

To find out more about Billy and the Beautiful Machines upcoming project you might wanna check them out on their official facebook page.

Ali Aiman New Music Video Featuring Talitha Tan “Cover You”

A singer, songwriter, and producer Ali Aiman success has been nothing but overwhelming since he premiered his debut single and video for ‘Breathe’ from his Overture EP back in June 2014. Before the release of his forthcoming Transcend EP, he release a few of his songs called the ‘Morning Sun’ and also a collaboration single ‘Cheap Perfume’ with local duo +2dB on FlyFmStripped . This week, it’s all about his brand new single and video for ‘Cover You’ that features with young talented local singer songwriter Talitha Tan.

His new single ‘Cover You’ was fully written and produced by him himself serves as the second single after ‘Morning Sun’ that questions the human nature of whether we should succumb to our “inner voices” of doubt and insecurity, or just allowed someone else to lend a helping hand. Ali Aiman and Talitha Tan dig deep into this issue that many of us can relate to with that feeling of hope that it will be okay. The Best Breakthrough Artist nominee for the recent Hitz.fm MET10 Awards has definitely been elevating his sound, but keeping to his true artsy signature gravel voice. We can already feel the Transcend EP is going to be another stellar release unlike his previous released before.

The director for his video Nadiah Hamzah captures the sombre moment of the single perfectly by capturing the change of seasons on screen in one single space with the both Ali and Talitha donned in black ensembles. With the helped of her fellow production crew members Mo Bahir and Nisha Khirudin that made this dream like video possible.

If you’re enjoyed Ali Aiman latest single you might want to check him out on his official social media handle on facebook, twitter and instagram account. Last but not least, don’t forget to follow Talitha Tan on her official facebook, twitter and instagram too.

Malaysian Rooftopper Daredevil Keow Wee Loong Snowboarding On Active Volcano

This snowboarding daredevil is among a very select few who can claim to have conquered the 7,641-foot high Mount Bromo in Indonesia.

Wearing a gas mask to protect him from the deadly fumes, Keow Wee Loong boarded down the ash-covered surface of the mountain in the country’s East Java region. His friend, Chin Kahn Kahn, shot the thrill-seeker from a drone as he slid down the vast expanse of the active volcano over several days. In order to gain access to the area, Keow had to beat tight security.

Last December, Mount Bromo was upgraded from Alert 2 to Alert 3 level, resulting in the closure of tourist sites to keep people a safe distance 2.5km away. Keow and Chin, both 27, snuck in to the location, along with their friend, Alvin Tung. Between December and February 8, the trio spent nine nights within the restricted area. During this time, activity and eruptions were reported at the site, shooting thick ash and sulphur high into the air, making things more hazardous for the group.

Twice they were discovered by guards. The second time, some of their footage was wiped clean. The photographer intends to go back up the volcano, shooting more footage of his exploits in the future. He said: ‘Back in 2015, when I was in Indonesia, I had this idea of snowboarding down an active volcano. ‘I thought it would not be possible because of the eruption and all – but what’s the fun of snowboarding down a volcano without the fire and smoke? ‘We were only about 200 meters away from the volcano some nights, so the biggest worry was an eruption at night. ‘I was very calm and had a mask on all of the time – it’s too dangerous to go there without a full gas mask. ‘The heat at the top burnt my skin and the eruptions sounded like 100 exploding grenades.
‘I did this because I wanted to prove that it’s a joy to take yourself further in life to and always believe in yourself.’
If you’re interested with Keow and his friends upcoming daredevil’s journey, you want to check out on his official instagram and facebook to find out more.

HBD x ZAP Chinese New Year Party

Having Chinese New Year withdrawals already? Fret not, Hin Bus Depot has got you covered as they will be holding a Chinese New Year party this Saturday, 4p.m., 20th of February, at Hin Bus Depot Art Centre, Penang.

As Penang’s premier purveyor of cosmic leisure and decadence, ZAP in collaboration with the Hin family proudly invites you to help kick start their first official party of 2016. They seek to take over the party picnic realm by starting out in the day (evening) and will be heading on as usual into the night. Think picnic baskets, bubbles and shamelessly drinking from a lipstick stained wine bottle and BYO drinks.

If you are however feeling a tad lazy they will be selling some drinks and we’re involving the Hin fam. This means coffee from Bricklin and burgers from Tavern (both sell beers) for sale with some of Hin Sunday’s vendors opening up shop. There will be food, drinks and also pop up booths.

There will also be guest DJs such as Distortnia, Mudah Tropical, Synthication and Josh Mosh. Party the night away to house techno and everything electronic. Head over to their website for further information.
