A Surreal Adventure Inside Malaysia’s Newest Royal Palace by Benjamin Von Wong

Benjamin Von Wong an ex-engineer in Canada who found his love for photography. Von Wong decided to quit his job as a full-time engineer and pursuit what he love doing, photography. In his latest project, Von Wong was invited to step foot inside an invite-only Royal Palace in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.

This enormous project just completed by architect Bill Bensley. The palace is open only on an invite-only basis and with some connection of the Internet world, Von Wong was invited by Bill Bensley to experience the Royal Palace first-hand and to create something particular, and share the beauty of the Royal Palace with the world. The Royal Palace with over a 100 rooms, 14 ton bronze doors and halls over three stories high, capturing the majesty of the palace was an massive challenge for Von Wong and his team. After countless hours of planning, shooting, and editing, Von Wong and his team are proud to present an exclusive walk in look of the Royal Palace and capturing its magnificence of the palace.

Vans Go Skateboarding Day 2015

It’s that time of the year that every one has been waiting for! It’s Vans Go Skateboarding Day ! The skateboarders, often seen with a skateboard in hand, a snapback, with skateboarding shoes and with attitude will be out on this day onto the streets to gather with all the other skateboarders. The only day for this counter-culture community will be giving them a chance to flaunt their skills and to meet others with the same appreciation with them. This year for Go Skateboarding Day in Malaysia will be held on the 20th June at Dang Wangi LRT station. While waiting for the official announcement, let’s have a look at some fun from last year’s Vans Go Skateboarding Day.

Book your weekend as Medini finally comes to life! Medini Live! is the inaugural festival consisting of music, film, arts, and the lifestyle community. The event will be organized by Medini Iskandar Malaysia at a new space that will also be launched during the event which is the Mall of Medini, Nusajaya, Johor Bahru. Medini Live! which will be happening on June 6th and 7th promises a jam-packed weekend of live music performances, film screenings, contemporary art shows, theatre play which aim to enhance the quality of life of Medini residents as well as to engage the larger community around through the channels of arts and culture.

Spending has to be wise in our day to day living, especially when buying sneakers. Everyone one of us has our own living expenses, we got to seek a balance between reality and simply picking up sneakers to our hearts desire. According to numbeo.com, Malaysians spend an average RM280 on sports shoes / sneakers per month. Haraju-Cube: Japanese Honey Toast

Harajucube, a cafe selling one of the most craved treat, a japanese creation, the japan honey toast. Originating from Japan, this toast is just as interesting as the name is. It’s basically a thick toast, crowned with delicious toppings or ice cream, then drizzled with honey. From lines of waiting in Tokyo, Taiwan and other places this treat is finally introduced in Malaysia by Daichi Fukuzato and Kent Ong who formerly worked at a Plaza Damansara bakery. Now we know why it’s worth the hype! Located at Empire Damansara, this cafe has a rather cozy ambience and is brightly lit that automatically creates a boost in mood.

Harajucube also serves savoury toasts with toppings like egg & mayo, ham & cheese, mixed seafood. A thoughtful and considerate way for those who do not like sweet stuffs but still can get a taste of their toast. If you are already salivating, then do drop by at Haraju-Cube and try it out !

The Star Wars UT Collection

Good news for all star wars fan ! Instead of  having to wait until 18th December 2015 for the release of the movie, UNIQLO decided to have Star Wars theme UNIQLO T-shirts this season for men’s and kid’s. (Yay!) This collection was designed by the participating artists for UNIQLO’s global T-shirt design competition which is also known as the UT Grand Prix (UTGP). This 22 designs were selected by the judges from the 5,218 entries from all over the world . There will also be special t-shirts designed by invited artists, which includes Jeffrey Brown, Doug Chiang and Kilian Plunkett. Najwa Mahiaddin – “Seri Mersing” (Official Video)

Enough with the teases and hints, Malaysia’s very own neo-soul lady, Najwa Mahiaddin has finally released the long-awaited official music video for the track, “Seri Mersing”. The track is taken off from her Aurora EP that was released last year, and it took us another one year to view the visuals of the track! But, do believe that the wait is worth the while. The official video was directed by Zul Luey of Luey Motion Lab and styled by a famous photographer, Ridduan Ismail of better known as TTFGA. The black and white visuals have a dark vibe kind of feel which surprisingly suits well with the new version of the track! For those who don’t know, the track “Seri Mersing” is initially a work of Sharifah Aini but Najwa gave it a modern tweak to make it as her own rendition of the haunting song.

Pisco Live 3.17 with Azmyl Yunor & Orkes Padu

Pisco Bar proudly presents Azmyl Yunor & Orkes Padu on the 3rd of June (Wednesday) 2015. The show will be highlighting the main act, Azmyl Yunor & Orkes Padu; a new project spearheaded by local underground folk musician Azmyl Yunor and beat guru Raje, which is also the band leader of the group Orkes Padu. Amzyl best known during his hard folk n’ rock days with his band, the Sigarettes which disbanded last year. After a while, the remaining active members, together with drummer and producer, Raje on board, they forge ahead with a new padu sound with a line-up consisting of otai from the Malaysian folk independent and underground music scene. Also will be performing on the event is Markiza and Peter, and Zach Tay. Admission is free so if you’re up for folk and blues kind off feel, make sure to go to Pisco Bar this Wednesday night!

Converse Inc. just announced the global launch of an immense program; Converse Rubber Tracks. The program opens the doors to some of the world’s greatest recording studio in music history. Converse Rubber Tracks will be activated across eight different countries in four continents, offering all talented musicians the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to record their original compositions at 12 studios of their preference, absolutely at no cost!

Converse Rubber Track program will serve as the brand’s most innovative initiatives to date, born out of the brand’s desire to give back to the music community and provide opportunities for artists who are not be able to afford studio cost. Selected artists will be given the chance to work with world-renowned producers and sound-engineers and also will be given full access to industry-leading technologies.

Global registration began Tuesday, May 26 until Wednesday, June 24 where applicants are required to rank their top 3 Converse Rubber Tracks studios and submit their work online along with biography or description via video or written application. Selected artists will be notified in early July, following a thorough planning session with studio producers that the artist has chosen.
