Dr Martens x Adventure Time Limited Edition SS15 Collection

Dr. Martens has teamed up with Cartoon Network to create one of the most insanely unique limited edition range of boots for adults and children inspired by the network’s hit cartoon ‘Adventure Time’. The collection is offering 3 different style of boots featuring the iconic characters of Finn and Jake plastered onto their 8-eyelet boots. The Finn and Jake boots, which come in white and yellow respectively, are made up of a combination of smooth leather and synthetic PU while the Multi boots, which feature both characters, comes in black style canvas. However the Finn and Jake boots are limited edition pairs with only 1460 units available globally. Alongside the collection, a 30-second film will also be released as part of the launch. Converse “Made By You” Spring/Summer 2015

This Spring/Summer, Converse has decided to launch “Made by you”, which is a landmark brand campaign to celebrate nearly 100 years of creativity for their sneakers. “Made by you” is also a celebration of being oneself and accentuate uniqueness, their stories and their sneakers. Whether they are hand-painted, worn out or covered in mud, each sneakers tells a personal tale of the worlds they inhabit. Aside from the inclusion of portraits collected from the likes of international icons like Patti Smith, Andy Warhol, Futura, Jefferson Hack, Sayo Yoshida, Kate Lanphear and Glenn O’Brien through the years, Converse is also shining the spotlight on some talented and hungry artists such as Sayori Wada, Lewis Hughes Batley just to name a couple. Ikal Mayang 2015

Here’s a little something for you to occupy your lazy weekend with: The Ikal Mayang 2015. Inspired by the Malay saying, ‘rambut sama hitam, hati lain-lain’, Ikal Mayang is a storytelling movement created to highlight the importance of storytelling and to be heard. This third time round Ikal Mayang, which is presented by Garang Pictures and big EyEs as part of the WOMEN:girls initiative for International Women’s Day, is going with the theme of ‘Serupa’ (Similarities) with 18 directors, both men and women, telling their stories through short film projects. The list directors comprises of so much diversity from singers like Vince Chong to actresses like Lisa Surihani. Heck, even Wak Doyok is a part of this movement. And the list goes on.. RECAP : COVER by Crossover Official Launch

The grand opening of COVER by Crossover was held on the 27th February 2015 at Sunway Pyramid. A lion dance performance to usher in the New Lunar Year kicked things off followed shortly by the ribbon-cutting ceremony that was conducted by Jem, founder of Crossover, together with Takefumi and Nancy Choo of Red Wing Shoes.

Other highlights include an interesting tattoo session on a Red Wing shoe by Sky Chun aka Tatu Malaya, and a workshop by Takefumi, the principle of Red Wing Shoes in Asia. The Red Wing workshop taught guests how to clean their Red Wing shoes using the proper tools and educate them on the different methods used to clean different types of leather.

Celebrity guests that attended include DJ Bunga, who laid down some beats for the rest of the guest,  and local fashion designer, Joe Chia. Guests were treated to Red Bull drinks, coffee from Espresso  Sporting Club and received COVER goodie bags.

The NIGO x adidas Originals Superstar 80’s “Pioneer” features a “Grand Slam” graphic all over print on a grey leather base with white accents accentuating NIGO’s eye for classic iconography and his love for sportswear and Americana. Taking art to the streets

Malaysia is a hidden gem for some of the best urban inspired art. Maybe it’s because the raw and fast pace of KL city sets the perfect ground for inspiration. Regardless of how urban art in Malaysia comes about, we love it anyway. With the ongoing Urban Art III showcase going on at Pelita Hati Gallery, Bangsar, we can all enjoy urban and maybe even take a couple home. The exhibition is showcasing artworks done by artists who live in or have a passion for city life and it is about visual art forms arising in urban areas-inspired by urban architecture or life style. Urban Art will going on until the 28th of March, Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm so getcha your butts there ASAP. All exhibits are for sale and won’t go for more than RM1,000. Although the Crossover Concept Store in Mid Valley was just recently opened sometime in November, Jem and the Crossover team do not show any signs of slowing down with the opening of their latest store, COVER by Crossover. COVER by Crossover is a multi-label store which carries premium street fashion labels such as Mark McNairy, Cash CA, Thom Browne, Red Wing Shoes and many more. The store’s 1400 sq feet interior boast a very unique rustic look that will bring you back in time to the post-war era. We must admit, the store is very, very Instagram worthy. Do pay them a visit at Sunway Pyramid and check out the brands available in store, or you can just pretend to buy something and take pictures instead. Your choice.

Darren Ashley’s new juice “Kakeru”

Well a week has passed which means we got a brand new tune from Darren Ashley to jam out to titled “Kakeru”. This time around, featuring Boy Bravado and Takeru’s vocals. The overall production of the song is pretty simple using synthesis as its base layer. It’s pretty exciting to wait for what fruit comes next as the cover. Give it a groove, guys.

My Music Festival 2015

The star studded lineup of My Music Festival 2015 are all suited and booted so get yourself ready to rock on this Sunday, March 8 from 5pm to 11pm at the Sunway Lagoon Surfbeach. The lineup on this one is probably one of the most diverse lineups you’re ever gonna get at just one main event. That “out with the old, in with the new” saying doesn’t apply at the festival this year because they’ve got a mix of everything. Dubbed “The Largest Malaysian Live Band Music Festival”, MMF 2015 is set to feature performances by over 20 local acts. Paperplane Pursuit, Enterprise, Kyoto Protocol, Joe Flizzow, Froya just to name a few. And the headline-grabbing act for this year, ‘70s English rock band Smokie will also be performing at the festival alongside local legends, Alleycats. If you’re lover of all kinds music, y’all better mark you calendars for this because what’s better than an all-star music festival; a free one and it’s happening this weekend.
