Nice Kicks X New Balance 1600 “Grand Anse”

14 years ago, Matt Halfill, the founder and publisher of Nice Kicks moved from Fresno, California to Grenada, an Island country in the Caribbean. Matt lived on the beaches of Grand Anse, one of the highest rated beaches in all of the Caribbean and that is the inspiration behind this release.

Each and every aspect of the shoe signifies something taken from Matt’s experience in Grand Anse. The aqua toe on the front of the shoe represents how the low lying water looks like when one enters the water at the beach, while the deeper blue colors represents the deep waters at the bay area. The light grey midsole color resembles the sandy beach of Grand Anse while the white accents on the upper resemble the sails on the boats at the bay. The sole is fitted with a light blue translucent sole which represents the warm water of the Grand Anse beach. The shoe is then finished off with reflective tongue and reflective panels hidden beneath the mesh which signifies the reflection of the sun from the water and the shimmering on the waves.

The shoe will be dropping this coming Saturday, 29th March 2014 at Sole What in limited quantities.

RECAP: Pesta Rabak – The Art of Branding by Tempatan Fest

Last Saturday, we went to “The Art of Branding, South East Asia 2014” by Tempatan Fest, which was held under Projek Rabak, at Publika. As we’ve been told, the purpose of this event is to let the local brands showcase their brand and their merchandise to the general public that is walking about in the mall, while at the same time pushing the envelope for visual merchandising among the local brands. We saw some brands like Tarik Jeans, Hellbent Skateboarding, 27Legacy Tie Dye, Abstrax, Rated Apparel and a few others at the event.

As we know, the normal public crowd will not get to check out all these local clothing labels if they’re not keen to see it, or they have not been to any local street wear festival. However, by showcasing all these local clothing labels in a mall, it’s actually a very good way to let more of the general public to know and be exposed to these local brands, and they’ve also been putting out quality products with affordable prices! After checking out “The Art of Branding”, we stopped by White Box, Publika to see the art that was on display which were done by various local artist, and it’s also one of the project under Projek Rabak. Tap the photos below and see what went down on that day on both sides of the event.

Don’t forget to keep up with Projek Rabak and Tempatan Fest Facebook Page as well as their IG (@Tempatanfest), (@projekrabak).
