Nike Air Tech Challenge II “Clay Blue” Detailed Look

Designed by Tinker Hatfield himself, the Nike Air Tech Challenge II first made it’s debut on the feet of 18 year-old Rock Star Tennis player Andre Agassi back in 1988. A good 26 years ago. Everything about Andre Agassi during that time was loud. His flashy mullet hair style, his fancy style of playing, and of course, his shoes.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe “Clay Blue” is a colorway that honours the blue/green clay that once covered majority of the tennis courts around the world. Nike has updated the pair with a synthetic white and blue leather, a visible 2-piece Air cushioning and a external heel counter. The shoe is finished off with “loud” elements like the orange swoosh and also orange accents paint splatter coupled with an orange Nike tag on the tongue. Oddly enough, Andre Agassi actually thought the shoe was too attention grabbing back then, but who’s complaining now?

The shoe will be made available at Nike stores and retailers like Sole What, this coming Saturday ( 22nd March 2014 ).

New video from Reach For The Skies for their 2nd single off their EP called “Avaries” which will be dropping on the 21st of this month. Enjoy the video above by trying to sing along with the lyrics below.

I can’t throw this heart away
I don’t care if you’re holding me down

We’re running circles
Will we make it out alive?
These storms are reckless
Let go, hold on tight

Bring me home where all skies turn bright
Sail with me through the storms
Do i see hope in you?

Can you answer me, what’s pulling you down?
I’m taking a spin pass the ocean of deadness

I will break you
I will break these pagans
I will free you
I will take you home

Bring me home where all skies turn bright
Sail with me through the storms
Do i see hope in you?

RECAP: ALL GONE Book Signing Session

ALL GONE is highly regarded in the street fashion/culture scene and has become somewhat of a bible to the scene since first being published in 2006 by French street fashion label, La MJC. The “ALL GONE: The Finest of Street Culture 2013” contains 248 pages of outstanding fashion items of the year. Making its way to our shores for the first time courtesy of Converse and CLOT, the book launch was graced by Michael  Dupouy, the founder and director of La MJC and the mastermind behind ALL GONE. CLOT co-founder, Kevin Poon, also made a guest appearance at the event and was signing books alongside Michael.

Below are some of the questions that were ask during the short interview that they during the launch. Check out the answers:-

Hello Michael, please introduce yourself to the KL people.

M: Who don’t know who I am? haha nawh, I’m just joking. I’m Michael, from Paris, I’m the editor of this book called ‘ALL GONE’. I’m friends with Kevin, and I’m please to be in KL. Nice to meet you!

What are both of your feelings bringing the ALL GONE Event to Malaysia for the first time and it being hosted in Juice KL?

M: Me, I’m super happy.I’ve been to KL six years ago for a holiday and never come back, so I’m really happy to be back. It was a long flight, and I just landed, but I’m in super good mood.

KP: I’m also very happy that Michael came from Paris to Juice KL. And it’s gonna be a big week, because there’s also a music festival happening, hopefully everyone get to see the book and to get Michael’s signature for the book tonight.

The Clot x Basquiat Millionare type font tee made its appearance in the book! What are both of your thoughts of brands showing love to modern art?

M: That’s good, the more and more we do crossover between fashion and art, the more and more we see people are happy, and it’s also easiest way for the people to get some art.

KP: Me and Michael, we both like to collect art. We’re always on the search of cool artist to add to our collections. And we’re really happy that Basquiat showed up in the book, and thanks for showing us love. Hopefully you guys will like it too!

Kevin, have you ever said to yourself that this CLOT shoe is going to appear in ALL GONE during the design & creative process? What are some things you guys look at to determine what is a good design?

KP: Uhmm, when we designed the shoe, we didn’t think about the ALL GONE Book, but I remember when we first met Michael in 2005, we’re hoping some of our products will reach the book, and we’re really happy for us when our first Clot Air Max reached the book, since then we become really good friends, we travel around the world and now we’re here today! So, we hope we can share the positive energy with all of you guys.

What are some things you guys look at to determine what is a good design?

M: I don’t really know, just have to love it. I’ve no specific criteria, just originality, not being a copy of something, and that’s it!

Are you both able to predict some of the trends for next years shoe releases based on this year releases? If so, what do you expect to see for 2014?

KP: I think by travelling around the world, we do hear some insiders information, like this year Adidas is going to do some interesting stuff with Kanye West. Obviously with Converse, there’s always an ongoing project that we’re doing with them. So, we hope that this year will be some interesting shoe releases like every year.

To Michael, how is this year’s ALL GONE book different from last years in terms of products, brands, etc.?

M: It’s 100% different, it’s not same at all. If we can talk about Converse, there’s more and more Converse that got into the book. Because they’ve been putting out new shoes that are really pushing the boundaries, really good shoes, good ideas and good quality.

What is your top 5 most favourite items in the book?

M: Converse x Neighbourhood collab, the 1000% full of woods bearbrick, the blanket from Wes Lang, The sculpture vase from Parra, and the last one is the Nate Loweman Converse.

Personally, what’s the most annoying trends in 2013?

M: That’s a good question. Seeing too many retros on the market, seeing too many vintages coming back again and again. You see when you go to the stores, they have 16 air max one and they’re all retros. It’s a bit boring for me because if you see to the future, and you see those brands that are supposed to be number one, they should put out new silhouette, and not putting out the old designs over and over again. It’s not really annoying, but for me, I’d want to see different new stuff.

KP: My brain don’t really think like that. So I don’t use the time to think about stuff that annoys me. I usually just think about stuff that’s positive. And I think the positive thing is the ALL GONE book is going asian wide this year.

What do you guys think about the hybrid sneakers?

M: Sometimes, they do a really good job, but sometimes they are boring.

KP: I like the air force one with the Lunar bottom.

If your house is on fire, which pair of shoes would you save?

M: My art and my wife. hahahaa

KP: Michael would probably just grab his iPhone first. LOL*

What is the hardest part / process about compiling a book like this?

M: I guess it would be to catalogue the items. We have to take pictures of every single item, and sometimes this items are flown in from all over the world to my office, and after taking them we have to send them back, and there are sooooooo many items. So yeah I guess that is the hardest part.

Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Desert Camo” Detailed Look

Anyone here still remember the Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Digital Floral Camo” that came out last year? People queued up in front of the shop for hours just to get themselves a pair of it. And within half and hour it was all gone. Some even paid reseller’s price to get their hands on a pair. We’d say that that was the moment that the Stefan Janoski silhouette made it’s mark on our Malaysian sneaker scene. Now, Nike SB is back with another “camo” themed Stefan Janoski model and is looking to make their mark once again with this ‘Desert Camo’ version.

This camo is not any regular camo you’d have spotted before. It abandons the greens of traditional camo, and sports a sand-coloured textile upper complemented by two-tone brown graphics and an embroidered solid-tan swoosh. Last but not least, the while sole bottom adds crisp, clean and complementary contrast for the shoes.

This shoe is dropping exclusively at Showroom tomorrow, the 15th of March (Saturday), 12pm, with the price of RM339 and in limited quantities. So mark your calendars and set your alarms to get up early as we are pretty sure there will be a queue for this one.

RECAP: Oh Chentaku – Young Hearts Album Launch

Last week we attended the launching of Oh Chentaku’s (OCK) latest album, Young hearts which was held at Black Box, Publika. Nothing much can be written here about the launching besides the fact that it was everything a rock show should be. The crowd and the band were engaged as one. Fist up in the air as the crowd were singing and screaming along. Mosh pits broke out. Crowd surfing. Sweat dripping from t-shirts. PERFECT.

735_840370449321779_578185986_n

The band started writing this album in 2012. And during the year of 2013, they were called to join the TV9 reality TV programme called VERSUS 2, which shot them to fame. Although they did not win VERSUS 2, they were revered as one of the most outstanding bands of the competition. After VERSUS 2, they focused back their attention on completing the album and beginning of this year, they did a Semenanjung tour to promote their album and finally ending the tour at Black Box, Publika where they officially launched the album.

During the album, the stage was graced by other artist like Altimet, Yasmin Matthews from the band Maddthelin, Sanjay from the band Azure For Janne, Dasha Logan, and last but not least, Wak Doyok, who came up to sing a song from Anuar Zain. Peep the gallery above to have a look at the pics of what went down during the launch.

Add Oh Chentaku on Facebook and also follow them on their Instagram ( @xohchentakux ) to stay up to date with their happenings, and also don’t forget to order your copy of Young Hearts!
