RECAP: SBTG x MITA x NEW BALANCE MRT580 Launch @ Crossover Concept Store

Last Thursday we attended the launch of the SBTG x MITA x New Balance MRT580 Launching which happened at the Crossover Concept Store in Sunway Pyramid. Special guest appearance by none other than Mr. Mark Ong aka Mr. Sabotage himself which was accompanied by Mrs. Sabotage.

There was already a pretty long queue by the time we got there with more than 40 people queuing up. From what we heard, the first in line was already queuing up at 10am the day before, which would mean he would have queued up for more than 24 hours!

The shoes were not the only main attraction of the day, as Mr. Sabotage sorta stole some of the limelight. Tired sneakerheads and fans of SBTG were all smiles as Mr. Sabotage signed cards, shoe boxes and even took pictures with them. Definitely a very good feeling to meet one of the designer of the shoes, which makes the long hours of queuing all the more worth while.

The shoe was sold out within the hour which left some of the back end of the queue empty handed and wanting, which made some of them cop the SBTG ID-ed version of the New Balance 580 Revlite pair. Check out the pictures below to see how the ID version looks like and to also see what else went down during the launch.

Paperplane Pursuit x Darren Ashley – Beat Of Your Love

ARVE Error: id and provider shortcodes attributes are mandatory for old shortcodes. It is recommended to switch to new shortcodes that need only url

Here is a new one by Paperplane Pursuit and Darren Ashley called “Beat of Your Love”. The music video was done by Joni, the wife of Paperplane Pursuit’s frontman John Oommen, which was a total DIY project helped by other friends and family of the artist. Part of the meaning to the song is about the yearning to be different from the norm and marching to your own beat. So enjoy this very catchy tune on your holiday as we march according to this song’s beat in the office.

Happy Thaipusam!

Zakwan Anuar has always viewed fashion not as a trade, nor a vocation, but as more of a branch of self-expression. He grew up obsessed with fashion design, juggling law school and dreaming of one day to start his own label. Brimming with optimism, he knows that the best thing a piece of clothing can do is to positively transform you into the best version of yourself.

Indeed, this Pahang-born designer has built a reputation for creating clothes combining sleek minimalism, masculinity and elegance – something which he stays true to since starting out in MIFA (Malaysian International Fashion Alliance) 2011 until today, which can be witnessed in his Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The collection consist of 29 different looks which sees him working with materials and fabrics which are completely new to him like stretchable cotton, jacquard, high gloss fabric (resulting in the glittery and shimmery effect), silk and summer wool.

Adding an extra flair to the show, Zakwan formed collaboration with Maatin Shakir, a shoe and bag designer and Goran Kling, accessory designer. A self-taught designer hailing from Miri, Sarawak, Maatin studied Fashion Marketing & Management in Raffles College of Higher Education in Kuala Lumpur and graduated with an advanced diploma in 2012.

Zakwan dedicates this collection to “anyone who loves fashion – those with a strong appreciation for style and creativity”. Visit his official Facebook page for more info or follow him on his Instagram account ( @zakwananuar ) for more updates! KAYUHBMX Family Video

[vimeo 81506827 w=620&h=348]

A video done to highlight the family members of KAYUHBMX, and to pick their brain on what makes BMX so appealing to them and what makes them keep coming back for more. The video also touches a bit about the BMX scene in Malaysia and also ask the members what are their hopes for the scene.

Although the BMX scene isn’t as big as the other scenes, but they definitely have a very strong cult following here in Malaysia. With the increase of the cost of living in Malaysia, who knows, BMX might jut be the next big scene in Malaysia.

Chaiwalla & Co. Honest Tea

During our tour in JB City, we passed by this interesting container cafe that’s located around Jalan Dhoby. At first, we din’t really notice the whole cafe is made up of container, only when we get closed to it, we are really amazed by the details they put into the decoration. Besides, they also use pellets, recycled wood etc. to make up the ceiling and furnitures. The whole idea of recycling those unwanted materials to something useful is really brilliant. Meanwhile, the cafe serves a variety of food and drinks, but don’t be fooled by the name of the shop ” Honest Tea ” and think that they only serve tea, they do serve coffee and smoothies as well.

Last but not least, there’s a good news for everyone that stays in KL – Selangor area, Chaiwalla & Co. has opened their new outlet at Klang Valley. So, let’s head over to the cafe and try out the drinks by yourself. For more information about the cafe, just check out their Facebook Page
