The Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ Satin Is Launching Again

If You Missed Out, Now’s Your Chance

The ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway has already cemented itself as a legendary colour amongst the others, having had a total of 3 iterations with another one coming along sometime later in the year. One of them is the ‘Satin’ version, replacing the materials on the toebox, heel counter, and collar with lush satin, proving to be a widely popular release for women.

Now though, Nike’s decided to re-release the model, just because.

Nothing has changed since the original release; all of the materials, embroidery, and colour remain the same as they were on the original. This iteration gets done up with a clear, orange outsole for added effect.

One thing to note is that the the Air Jordan 1 Satin ‘SBB’ is still a women’s only release, so expect to go one and a half size up for mens. The silhouette drops on the 17th of April 2019 at Nike.com for a price of approximately RM 649. All the best.

CASIO Has Just Uprated The G-Shock’s Toughness By Adding Carbon Fibre

1: Carbon Fibre Bezel, 2: Carbon Fibre Monocoque Chassis, 3: Shock Resistant Buttons

Carbon > Metal > Resin

Carbon fibre has had its many uses in other parts of the industry, from carbon fibre parts for cars, chassis for boats, even applying it liberally in the construction of the Boeing 777 Dreamliner. It’s a no brainer then regarding the abilities of carbon fibre, being 10 times stronger than steel while weighing a mere quarter than its metallic counterpart. Which is why Casio has applied the material liberally in its new iteration of the GWR-B1000 Gravitymaster.

G-Shock GWR-B1000 Gravitymaster

Adding onto the G-shock ethos, the Gravitymaster has been seriously upgraded for outright toughness. Apart from the standard G-Shock internals, the casing is made from 57 layers of the stuff, baked, then milled to form the backbone of the watch. The bezel also gets done up in the same treatment, for a complete carbon fibre look. Buttons are milled from anti-rust titanium, sans the button guard, because they’re resilient enough on their own. To further stress their point, the opening launch had the CEOs slingshotting the watch onto a bullseye, to which the watch practically dusted off as if it was a mere ant bite. The strap too has been given carbon fibre inserts, for extra reinforcement, because why not.

Other technologies included inside are the 6 channel radio band, Bluetooth capabilities to sync to your phone, solar-charging, calendar, stopwatch, and alarm. The watch retails for a cool RM3999, but we say it’s worth it if you regularly trip to the unknown and back.

For a more affordable model, Casio has also launched the GA-2000, that features a a carbon fibre reinforced case with a multitude of different colours at a decreased price of RM 579.

In other watch news, Bell & Ross just announced the launch of their e-boutique in Malaysia.

Bell & Ross Have Opened A Malaysian E-Boutique

So You Don’t Have To Go Down To The Shops To Buy One Should The Itch Be there

Normally, when you want to purchase a watch, you’ll have to go to the showroom, look at it, feel it in your hand, before deciding that you don’t have the cash to make the purchase and leave in a hurry much to the chagrin of the salesman. Now though, Bell & Ross is here to save you from feeling such horrid emotions as they launch an e-boutique store for the Malaysian market.

Now obviously, the stated reason above is not the actual reason, but it’s to ease customer access to the brand as the CEO, Carlos A. Rosillo so eloquently puts it. What this means is that, whenever the itch to go have a look at watches presents itself, an official boutique is present and available to view regardless whether it’s at 4AM or 3PM. Mr. Rosillo also adds that by having an e-boutique, the brand can showcase its entire inventory whereby a typical brick and mortar store will most probably not carry all of the collection, ranging from entry level to super high end.

To commemorate the launch, Bruno Belamich from the creative department has unveiled a collection of small leather goods to put your watches in, exclusively available online.

Time to satiate your desires and act out your purchase here at BellRoss.com.

For more extravagant watch news, G-shock has opened pre-orders for a full 18k gold “G-D5000-9JR”.

How The Government Imposed Digital Tax Will Affect You

Your Netflix And Spotify, +6%

A few days ago, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah announced that a digital service tax will be implemented at a fixed rate of 6% per year, with estimates rounding off to RM 500,000.

Obviously that shocked netizens, as now it seems the average household will have to pay a little bit more to enjoy their Netflix, Spotify, Steam, Garena, or Amazon Prime subscriptions.

“The digital tax is to provide a level playing field among local and foreign companies, as well as between online and offline service providers,” said Amiruddin.

iMoney has provided a handy infographic on which products are affected. From the looks of it, all incoming traffic from outside looks to have hit a tax gate, whereas local companies such as iflix, Astro, and Grab won’t be penalised. Now, given that most subscription services are relatively inexpensive from a price standpoint, consumers will have to pay a little bit more (around RM 4 – RM 5 extra) depending on the amount.

The Air Jordan 1 ‘Crimson Tint’ Is Coming, But In Kid Size

UPDATE: Full Size Run of ‘Crimson Tints’ will drop on 7 May, for a retail price of RM 649

Why Nike Gotta Do Us Dirty?

The Air Jordan 1 is on a different roll this year, as Jordan Brand wants to expand upon its lineup to include more non-GR colourways. Several successful iterations include the ‘Turbo Green,’ ‘Hyper Crimson,’ and ‘Phantom,’ colours, with the rumours coming on strong for a ‘Shattered Backboard 3.0’ coming soon.

Following this momentum, Jordan has released the ‘Crimson Tint,’ a light pink iteration following the ‘Bred’ colour blocking. The colourway employs liberal used of tumbled leather, with the colourway following all the way down to the outsole, rounding up a very clean and crisp colourway.

Here’s the catch, for now, it’s only available in boys sizing.

Nike will probably follow up the colourway with a full adult run, but this is what you’ll have to make do with. The Air Jordan 1 ‘Crimson Tint’ drops on the 15th of April, for a price of RM409 at Nike.com. Maybe it’s time to get your boy on the hype train.

Stoned And Co. Just Released A Toddler Apparel Collection

Including T-shirts And Caps

Stoned and Co. aren’t strangers to the scene. From several launches to celebrity endorsements, the name is well known amongst the Malaysian youth, more so with the brand’s crowning jewel, the collarbone leaf tee. After the Maple Leaf collection and their own take on the Make America Great Again (Make Malaysia Great Again) slogan, it only makes sense for the brand to move onto other things and experiment within the gamut of clothing lines.

And kid’s clothing seem to be the right direction, at least in Stoned’s eyes.

Only having launched yesterday, the Stoned Junior collection features a simple range of t-shirts, caps, and bibs, featuring a 8-bit rendition of a dinosaur and egg throughout, though the bibs are yet to be announced. Prices range from RM 80 to RM 98 for the cap and t-shirt, and is available online now at Stoned’s website, stores, and selected stockists nationwide.

Ella Showcased The Best Of Malaysian Designers At Her Unplugged Concert

We definitely haven’t heard the last of Ella, and during her Unplugged concert right here in the heart of KL, Malaysia’s Rock and Roll Queen decided to pull out all the stops, from instrumentation, all the way to fashion. And under the creative reigns of Jiman Casablancas from Tarik Jeans, well, it was a runway as much as it is a concert.

Three criteria were made very clear in the beginning. Everything needs to be elevated from the usual, Ella would wear almost exclusively black items, and only apparel from homegrown designers are chosen.

Fitting: Afiq M

As is fitting for a neo-rock look, Jiman rallied a full hand of Malaysia’s best, including names like Kit Woo, Ezzati Amira, Syomiriza Gupta, Joe Chia, and Afiq M to come up with a whole lookbook split into three parts, PEACE – Unplugged, LOVE – Traditional, and RINDU – Rock n Roll.

Fitting: Joe Chia

The gamut encapsulates many different genres of clothing, from an opera coat, Vivienne Westwood’s Victorian inspired Kebayas, an oversized puff warrior jacket, to a Kimono top, finished with glittered fringes for highlighted visual effects. Local jeweller Behati also had a hand in completing the outfit, providing finishing touches with their unique brooches.

Fitting: Syomiriza Gupta

To further accentuate the looks, Jiman called upon make-up maestro Khir Kalid, known for his dramatic editorial work. You’ll come to notice that outfit transitions from a t-shirt and jeans female rocker into a hijab wearing glam rock goddess was expertly done with the genius of Naz, a renowned hijab stylist who individually customised each hijab under the creative guise of Jiman.

Fitting: Kit Woo

Devise Pays Homage To Its Logo With New Namesake Collection

Including Contributions From Abdul Rashade And CLVNTVN

Devise has been around for a very long time, with some touting as the true OG of Malaysian streetwear, and with such an extended duration of time in the scene, a legacy is soon born, following the footsteps of the scene as it goes, continuously growing as the years pass.

The ‘Namesake’ collection then, is a homage to that legacy, specifically the logo that shaped Devise since it was trademarked 10 years ago in 2008. The collection gives a bit of a remix to the classic logo, including designs from other artists from the likes of Abdul Rashade and CLVNTVN giving their own take on the design.

2 apparels make up the collection; the t-shirt being the mainstay, but winged by a hoodie. Naturally with all Devise clothing, it comes in all black with Devise printed on the front, as well as a trio of the logo on the back portion of the hoodie. Both prints are done up in matte black for a true, minimalist style.

Clockwise: Namesake Black, Namesake Grey, Deathtone, CLVNTVN, Abdul Rashade

The t-shirts however, come in one extra colour that breaks away from their norm: grey. The standard Devise t-shirt remains pretty much the same, except now ‘Namesake’ is printed below the main text, just three shades lighter than the colour of the t-shirt. Alternately, the Deathtone version mixes up the classic design by recreating the Devise name albeit with tiny skulls. Abdul Rashade on the other hand, has concocted a skeletal reimagination of the logo, imbuing animal skulls and bones that reads out Devise, while CLVNTVN overlays a graffiti of a snake over the logo for added effect.

Price ranges from RM 89 for the t-shirts and RM 189 for the hoodie, and is available now at Devise’s online store.
