Nike “Walks The Dog” With Its Latest 420 SB Dunk High Pro

Nike’s contribution to the 4/20 culture has always been an interesting one, more so given the treasure trove of references from lingo, slang, and strain type from different types of weed to pull out from. Last year, we had the ‘White Widow,’ an ultra fuzzy iteration referencing the strain, the ‘Ceech and Chong,’ whereby cutting the upper would unveil a a layer of mossy green suede, and the original ‘Skunk,’ hiding absolutely nothing when it comes to its reference to the Devil’s Lettuce, and including a stash pocket to hide emmmm, things.

This year, the Swoosh has come up with another one, this time paying homage to man’s best friend, called the ‘Dogwalker,’ or ‘Walk The Dog,’ and it’s chockful of details. For one, the upper features a myriad of different patterns commonly found on dogs, with pony hair forming the upper, overlayed with hairy green suede with a Red Swoosh made from a material that’s reminiscent of a dog collar.

Flipping the shoe over, we notice a big brown patch on the outsole, evocative of a dog poop stain when one steps on a steaming pile. The insole is said to feature all of Nike’s staff dogs, while the inner tongue tag is embellished with a poop emoji SB logo. Brown lace is also given in a plastic bag, further reference to dog shit in a bag. The concept is then rounded off with a hangtag that says Sparky, buy and large one of the most common names to name a new dog.

Despite these references however, and its connection to the 4/20 holiday, the shoe is a literal play on words, while the underlying meaning convenes another popular marijuana strain called the ‘Dog Walker.’ Hence the name, and the extrapolated concept focusing on dogs.

The Nike SB Dunk High ‘Dog Walker’ releases on the 20th of April for a price of approximately RM 450 ringgit.

Maybe You Don’t Need A Business Network, Maybe All You Need Is Common Ground

Sponsored Post

Now, the concept of co-working spaces has long been used by many various others in their bid to capture new start-ups, freelancers, or people who work off-site, and buy and large it has proved to be a popular one. A new site seemingly pops up every now and then, offering the same sort of things to the same sort of people who are looking to work at roughly, the same sort of place too. Pretty much the line of differentiation is morphed into a circle whereby all co-working spaces look pretty much the same, sans the interior design. So how do you put yourself out there, and be something else while retaining your core concepts as a co-working space?

Well, according to Erman Akinci and Juhn Teo, it’s to integrate networking 100% into the fabric of its ecosystem.

The Common Ground founders have banked their entire premise on this concept, and as a whole idea in itself, I’d say they’ve banged on every portion of it, from being not just an office, but an incubator for new partnerships and a catalyst to strengthen business propositions and alliances.

And it does so within a carefully curated space that encourages and maximises critical thinking. The design language used here is best described as homely, with plenty of natural light sources from multiple spots illuminating the place, complemented by neutral, earthy colours that sets a pleasant tone all across the office space. The chairs are plush, and the space, abundant. There is never a moment where one will feel as though they are trapped in a cubicle amidst cold, and tense fluorescent lighting. In here, warm lighting is used almost exclusively to further accentuate its thematic, making it an inviting place to be in, one that induces the work bug and actually be productive.

Though as that may be, the jewel in Common Ground’s crown is the more human aspect of it, specifically its business network opportunities, and it extends far beyond the confines of a workspace. Common Ground hosts countless events to encourage its members to partake and build new relationships, from self-improvement workshops, mixers, it all comes together and converges to a central trait: ambition.

You see, the ambition to create, to succeed, can be very strong when it’s fed the right energy, and the community serves just that with its countless numbers of partners. Work at Common Ground is definitely not the central focus, as according to them, it is equally important that relationships extend just beyond the workplace. And it pays off to be a member too, as access is given to perks and benefits curated from a diverse range of more than 200 local and international companies.

So, it can be said that Common Ground is not just a space to work. It’s a whole community, one that’s driven by a singular goal, and interlocked with many others of the same mindset from different backgrounds and industries. And if a proper headstart is all you need, than Common Ground may be the place to be.

The Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred’ Returns, This Time Including An Original Detail

A Popular Original Returns To Its Former Glory

1989 was a landmark year for Jordan, and 30 years into 2019, the brand is celebrating one of its most popular silhouettes ever created, but before that, a little history lesson as to why this colourway in this model was incredibly popular with the public.

Tinker, now settled into Nike’s design department, had just designed a killer shoe loaded with new technology at that time. It was the first silhouette to feature mesh-netted overlays, and a vastly new lockdown system provided by the silhouette defining wings on the lateral and medial sides. Michael Jordan then took it to the next level by sealing a shot against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 NBA Playoffs, and the rest, was history.

30 years from now, after some 2 retroes, the “Bred” 4s make a triumphant return, now complete with an important detail that was missing on the 2012 retro, the all-important Nike Air branding on the heel. All of the ‘Bred’ details are present and accounted for, and honestly, is there anything more that you can ask for?

The Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred’ will release on the 4th of May at Nike.com for a price of RM 775.

Jaggfuzzbeats Teases A New Single, Just “In Time”!

Written by Zim Ahmadi

In 2017, alternative rock outfit from Shah Alam, Jaggfuzzbeats released their debut album, “Rest Now”. After a 2 year wait, and much anticipation, they’re finally releasing the new single off of their new album on 16 April 2019!

Jaggfuzzbeats is a duo from Shah Alam, consisting mainly of Azrul on vocals &  lead guitar and Omar Aiman on drums. If you want to know anything about their sound, you can find it in the name. Fuzz pedal effects usually only on fender jaguars. It’s all about bringing back the essence of alternative rock in the early 2000s, interspersed with a touch of post punk revival, a musical movement forefronted by bands like The Strokes and the Arctic Monkeys.

Rest Now in 2017 was a breath of fresh air in the contemporary indie scene amidst so many bands revelling in their nostalgia of Malaysia’s 2008 independent boom. But they weren’t too crazy to be too unfamiliar, with heartwarming riffs & chest-beating declarations of love and lost. The fuzz effects are snuggly melancholia.

Well melancholia no more, now that they’re coming back. Recently the duo released a 14-second teaser on their social media. The scene is of them hanging out on a couch in a messy bachelor pad, with Omar rolling himself  some tobacco and Azrul tapping on the radio. The only audio hint you get of the upcoming song is just amplifier feedback in the background of the song title and the release date.

But fret not, we’ve got some speculation as to how the song could possibly sound like. In a previous article where we talked about albums we were excited for, we mentioned that Jaggfuzzbeats is drawing inspirations from brighter power pop sounds personified in bands like Locksley. Maybe less post-rock-esque, atmospheric riffs, but more intimate & brighter arrangements. If their live performance is any indicator, Jaggfuzzbeats isn’t cutting down on their amazing musicianship.

Their first single coming out next week definitely means a new album’s on the way, but their drummer Omar has confirmed that instead of May, the album would probably be pushed to “August earliest”. In any case, stay tuned for some more Jaggfuzzbeats!

PUMA Taps Turkish Streetwear Label Les Benjamins For Their Travel Photography Inspired Collection

On the right: Bunyamin Aydin (Credit to: Zimbio)

Bunyamin Aydin is passionate about two things, photography, and travel. And in a brisk change of direction, PUMA has decided to collaborate with Aydin’s brand, Les Benjamins in order to reflect his passions into the capsule collection. Which proves to be an interesting one, as we’ll explain below.

You see, Aydin moulds his aesthetic philosophy from all around him in Turkey, which translates to deep-rooted cultural influences and rituals into craftsmanship of comfort. With this in mind, Aydin has reimagined several PUMA silhouettes with a hand-crafted, artisanal feel, entailing the use of rich colours and detailing of traditional Turkish carpets.

Hence, uniting both culture and comfort, the collaboration has resulted in the recreation of 3 iconic silhouettes, namely the RS-0, Thunder Disc, and Trailfox.

Complementing said shoes is a range of apparel designed with ergonomic storage solutions, coloured in bold Les Benjamins prints as well as Turkish carpet prints as a homage to the city. The stylish parka, windbreaker, hoodie and tee along with performance inspired accessories like backpack, bum bag and cap complete the capsule collection.

This unique capsule collaboration is available now only at PUMA Select stores in KLCC and Sunway Pyramid exclusively.

The Nike Zoom Vomero 5 Gets Donned Up In Racier Colours

Less Designer, More Runner

As much as we don’t really want to admit it, Samuel Ross’s decision to use the Vomero 5 helped revive it from the graves of the archives and edging it closer to designer status. It’s multi-layered structure adds depth into the silhouette, and the peeling off the protective coat allows for accelerated aging according to the wearer.

Which then follows up with the normal Vomero 5 without the “air-cond” unit at the heel portion of the shoe in both triple white and triple black. Very pretty iterations of the shoe, that only serves to cement its presence in the hype of it all.

Now though, the Swoosh has taken upon itself to really discover back to what the Vomero 5 actually is, a running shoe. Special Projects has come up with 3 colourful renditions of the model, featuring more intense colour blocking that brings out the layers of the silhouette. Electric Green, Racer Blue, and Dark Grey are chosen for the colourway upgrades, matched with several undertones of white, black, and grey to create a rendition that dips into its roots.

All three colours of the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 will release on the 18th of April, 2019 for a price of RM 649.
