Chinese New Year Comes Early As Adidas and Pharrell Drop The Solar Hu Glide And Crazy BYW Tomorrow

As Chinese New Year rolls up right around the corner, and Adidas Originals together with Pharell Williams have come prepared. 2019 presents a year of good fortune, and symbolism is as much in Pharell’s DNA as Chinese culture, hence the primary colour palettes include bright red with smatterings of yellow embellishments, meant to signify good fortune and happiness.

Let’s talk about the BYW first. The basketball shoe is slowly turning into a lifestyle silhouette, and with Pharell’s design input, the silhouette gets draped in bright red, with yellow stripes and dark gold scalings throughout. ‘AMBITION’ is embroidered on the uppers in standard Human Race fashion.

The Solar Hu Glide perhaps, is the more tasteful version of the two, featuring dirty gold accents along a red and black upper. An embroidered ‘Fú’ is present on the upper, an ode to the symbol being placed on doors to bring prosperity into the household.

Both the BYW and Solar Hu Glide are priced at RM 1150 and RM 700 respectively, and will be released at Adidas Online tomorrow on the 26th of January. Time to get that Chinese New Year flex.

Nike Releases The Zoom Vomero +5 Without The Enlarged Heel Tab

Better, We Think

Written by Sean Ho

The archives for Nike is a very interesting place, and with Samuel Ross of A Cold Wall* having pulled one out of its pages to use for its Nike collaboration, the Swoosh thought it’d be a fairly good idea to reintroduce it back into the rotation.

Enter the Nike Zoom Vomero 5, now under the wings of the Special Projects department, and looking much more sleeker without the air-conditioning unit (read: tab) on the back of the shoe. Quite closely mirroring the colour scheme. The SP model features much of the same as compared to the ACW model, having implemented synthetic leather and mesh panels with a Nike Swoosh. The reflective paneling on the front and back of the shoe adds a touch of detailing to the sneaker.

The only thing missing, or rather implemented is that this model doesn’t peel off its protective layer for the shoe to age faster unlike the ACW model. Regardless, the retro runner look is one that’s definitely noticeable on foot, and would make as a comfortable everyday shoe should you choose to do so.

This pair is set to release on the 1st of February – 9:00 MYT on nike.com and while no prices have been released yet, it is expected to retail at approximately RM620.00.

Written by Sean Ho

Casio G-Shock is releasing a new collaborative watch with the Transformers franchise, and as both names are set to celebrate their 35th anniversary, the watch sees an impressive display from both brands.

When the watch is transformed, Optimus Prime turns into a watch stand and back to into action figure mode should the wearer so desire.

Surprise Surprise, The Yeezy 350 ‘Cream White’ Restocks Again

We wouldn’t really say it’s not or never, mostly because the Yeezys are so ubiquitous now that you can afford to skip one drop and still have time to reconsider your thoughts before you purchase. That’s exactly what happened with the last ‘Cream White’ drop, and now, the Adidas higher ups have green lit another one.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Yeezys aren’t as limited as they once were back in the day, as Kanye has strongly stated that he wants  to give the chance to people who have not been able to buy a pair, to finally acquire their own Yeezys. Which is a noble move to say the least.

Regardless of the hype or not, Yeezys are extremely comfortable to wear on a day to day basis, and thus should definitely be included into your rotation. The Adidas Yeezy 350 ‘Cream White’ is available at Adidas Online for a price of RM 990, on the 25th of January.

MADNESS Reiterates More Timberland Models In “Alteration” Pack

Shawn Yue’s partnership with Timberland was a fruitful one, which saw the MD-01 cut and resewed to make the boot more functional by replacing part of the heel with nylon to enhance comfort. In addition to that, the boots were given a full GORE-Tex treatment to ensure waterproofing in the urban rain.

It was a popular bout, and now, the sequel follows the same footsteps as the first. “ALTERATION” then, is an embodiment of crushed elements of the two brands that are reborn and made better. Combining meticulous details and craftsmanship, the collaboration has resulted in one of the best looking Timberland models to date.

Much like the MD-01 back then, the MD-02 is pretty much the same, with the exception of more understated colours and hairier suede. Apart from the boots, both the Chukka and 3-Eye Boat Shoes are go under the knife and are given premium suede leather treatment while resting on top of Vibram® outsole for all-day comfort.

Expect a high price for these pairs, as quality doesn’t come cheap. The MD-02 retails for RM 1199 while the Chukka and 3-Eye go for RM 1099 and RM 899 respectively. Pairs are available at Timberland Mid Valley and selected Crossover stores nationwide.
