Confirmed: H&M X Eytys Is Coming To Malaysia

Swede On Swede Makes All Things Gravy

After the wildly successful collaborative throwback with Moschino, H&M is set to open the New Year with a collaboration quite close to its home base, Eytys, but before we begin, let’s take a look into who H&M has gotten in bed with.

Eyty’s is the brianchild of two friends, Max Schiller and Jonathan Hirschfield, whom on a trip to Japan together, dreamt about making a unisex chunky shoe inspired by what the American Navy wore during World War 2. Unisex here is an important point, as all of the Eytys line can be worn by either gender that results in fashion subculture that can only be best described as Swedish Punk.

At the heart of the collection are Eytys’ selection of footwear, which includes sneakers, shoes, and boots, as well as apparel items like jackets, tops, trousers and jeans in materials such as cotton twill, faux patent leather, nylon and raw denim. Cuts are made quite boxy so as to not differentiate between menswear and womenwear.

“In this collab we wanted to give the shoes new life. To put them in a context of a concentrated collection with other products. And all those products are designed the same way we always design: by taking traditional workwear garments and giving them new proportions, creating more extreme versions of the original idea,” says Max Schiller.

Ross Lydon, Acting Head of Menswear Design at H&M adds that “He admires that Eytys have a look distinctly their own. “Initially, we approached them with the idea of creating a shoe collection. But after initial brainstorming, it was decided that a full collection – shoes, clothes and accessories – would enable our customers to really experience the whole brand aesthetic and ethos. With this collaboration we want to offer our customers a total look that is all about chunky statement shoes and mindful proportions that are genderless.”

Full on Swedish aesthetics, all in one department store. The H&M X Eytys collection will release at Lot 10 and online on the 24th of January, 2019.

Seiko Looks Back To Its Archive For New SPRD11 Dive Watch

Written by Sean Ho

Seiko goes back in time to bring back Japanese diver timepieces back, called the Seiko Prospex Turtle Series, specifically  the Ref. SRPD11.

It features a rotating bezel, including five indication of the diver’s marking set within a black with blue shading tone. The selection of colour gives the watch a touch of luxury to it. Its oversized “turtle” style shape is somewhat special as it’s the only series in Seiko’s lineup to offer this feature. Apart from that, it also features a new 45mm matte black Ion stainless steel case and bracelet, with what appears to be polished silver contrasting accents on the centre of the links.

Speaking of its movement, the watch is powered by an 4R36 automatic movement known for its accuracy. Furthermore it features a 3Hz manual winding capability and a 41-hour power reserve.

Unquestionably, it is the ideal blend of function and fashion. From a formal event to a scuba diving trip, this watch has got you where ever you go. Don’t forget its price though, for a diving watch offering this much features, it’s rather reasonable.

The Seiko Prospex Turtle Ref. SRPD11 is Retailing at USD575 (approx RM2,355) and is accessible at all Seiko’s authorised dealers.

Chris Brown Taps Katun To Design An Artwork For His New Single

2019 is looking to be a very bright year, and Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahman a.k.a Katun is currently having the spotlight all to himself, as the artist has just completed an artwork for Chris Brown’s new single, ‘Undecided.’

Speaking to The Star, Katun said “I was hanging out with my friends when I received an email from Chris Brown’s creative director. It was such a unexpected surprise, I even wondered if it was legit at that time. I still cannot believe that I got this opportunity to do an artwork for Chris Brown’s single! I was given 100% freedom to create the artwork.”

Employing his signature bright palette, Katun’s artwork displays a humanoid figure in a hood akin to a fortune teller, offering two life choices in his hands that represents an intersection in the protagonist’s life (in this case, it’s Chris Brown). Four doors float behind the figure, each labelled with the words Love, Fear, Empathy, and Sacrifice.

Pictured: Katun

“Basically, I was told that Chris Brown wanted ‘something mysterious, something that stands out’, so I sent over a few sketches that they could select from. He chose this artwork of the kid with the fortune guardian – which is kind of a representation of how difficult it is to make choices in life, or to know what lies ahead,” recalls Katun.

A big notch then, in a very illustrious belt of achievements from the artist. For more of Katun’s work, head on to his Instagram page.

Nike Adds A Luxury Touch To The M2K Tekno

Written by Sean Ho

Dad seems to be the first word that Nike`s spotted in the dictionary, as another chunky shoe has been given a luxe remix.

Coming in three colours, the Nike M2K Tekno SP features a combination of synthetic leather, woven fabric, mesh, suede and nubuck. All three follow a monotonous palette that complements neighbouring shades very well, particularly the Dark Grey/ Stealth Grey iterations which coincidentally, is also very hard colourway to come by, even by other models.

The Nike M2K Tekno SP will be available at nike.com on Thursday,17 January 2019 at 9AM MYT. Retailing at USD 115.00 (approximately RM471.00), is slightly steep at retail but for a sneaker executed so well and a part of Nike’s “Special Projects” collection, why not? New year, new flex.

Futuremade Studios Taps Military Looks From The A-Team For Its New Collection

Given our demographic, we may have completely missed the original A-Team series of shows, but for some of us, we would have probably seen the movie adaptation of the original, featuring Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton Jackson running and gunning for their lives as rogues trying to clear their name.

Inspiration from their outfits are then transcribed and translated into Futuremade’s latest one, which for the first time, include outdoor accessories in its capsule. Graphics were supplied by Artpeace Graphics for their prowess in military art as well as hand-painted designs. Let’s start off with the jumpsuit.

Inspired by the Vietnam War US OG107 Coverall, the Military Jumpsuit is treated to produce a slightly faded and worn appearance to recreate the vintage aesthetic without sacrificing quality. Hunter jackets are also included in the collection in both khaki and navy, featuring oversized pockets and a hidden pocket for additional storage. Noragis make a return, as well as the utlity cargo pants in three different colourways.

Rounding off the collection are kangaroo pouch t-shirts, and high collar l/s tees, and a line of accessories which include two hand painted enamel mugs, an outdoor camping lamp, as well as Futuremade exclusive Pantun Pins.

A very complete collection, that now extends towards a lifestyle. Prices range from 16 USD for the mugs all the way to 117 USD for the jumpsuit and is now readily available at Futuremade’s online store.
