Faith in Sneakers Community Restored

We are well aware of the recent scam cases polluting the sneaker community, so with that in mind we thought it would be necessary to share helpful information that could prevent such issues from becoming more of the norm. This info was originally posted on the Facebook group Streetwear Stuff Malaysia (SSM), one of the largest buy and sell group in Malaysia that is managed by a member that goes by the name of Alexander Pun.

There’s a lot of controversy revolving around the legitimacy and business practices employed by the online store known as SHOEHOUZE or SHOEHOZE. They went M.I.A after being mired in a series of fraudulent cases that shot them to infamy for deliberately selling replicas to unassuming customers. If you thought they’re now permanently out of business, you’re sadly mistaken.

Apparently, they never shed their online scamming shenanigans but instead were hiding in the shadow of a new Facebook page called Oversea Sneaker Collection.

Described below is their modus operandi to deceive and monumentally piss off customers:

  1. They state that their products are 100% authentic and that their pricing is tantalisingly below market value because it is a direct factory product while the warehouse is based in Labuan, which is a tax-free island in Sabah. There is another saying that some of the shoes are handpicked personally from Korea, where they act as a personal shoppers for the buyer.
  2. If you question the authenticity of the shoes, they will then send you customer reviews from their website, which may or may not be true since ALL the reviews are favourable toward them. It also seems like they have turned off the review function on their Facebook page.
  3. After payment, you will either get ‘just’ a bad replica of the shoe you wanted, a bad replica with the wrong size (a double slap on the face) or worst case scenario, nothing at all shows up at your doorstep.
  4. They don’t accept any refunds. So you’re screwed either way.

The fundamental problem is NOT that these online scammers sell fake pairs. Much like the pirated DVD sellers scattered throughout country, the practice is downright unethical and practically illegal, sure, but if you have buyers that are okay with fake stuff, then fine, whatever floats your boat. At the very least, the buyer does the purchase with the full knowledge of what is actually being bought.

But lying about the shoe’s authenticity is another thing altogether. Fake shoes disrespect the original shoemaker, but promoting them as original, bonafide pairs is disrespecting the consumer.

The screenshot below shows these scammers trying to sell a “real” and newly released adidas x Mastermind Japan NMD XR1 for RM499, while the resell market’s price tag is a whopping RM2,200. Is this a steal? Or is it too good to be true?

Last but not least, kudos to Alexander Pun for standing up and sharing this piece of information. Cheers mate!

One Of The Greatest Batman Animation Movies Yet!

Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders is the BOMB.

Older geeks gushing over the Gotham Knight will likely find this revamped classic a visual and evocative treat. For the younger generation of Batman lovers though, mental adjustments might be required to stomach the animation’s deviance from the emotionally-disturbed, superlatively dour and indomitable Batman of more modern times. This Batman is far more comic relief that the super genius detective-crime fighter we’re used to.

The spiritual successor-of-sorts to the classic Batman TV series of the 60s, this movie expends tons of silly, pun-filled and humorous jokes much like the original live action series it pays homage to. The animation also resurrects the iconic comic wording sound effects like “POW!” and “BOOF” that was the norm back in the day. It’s a visual element that’s nostalgic for old timers, entertaining for kids and a little silly for everyone, in a good way of course!

Back in the day before we had Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck and Christian Bale as our Dark Knight, we had Adam West and Burt Ward as the original actors for Batman and Robin respectively in the classic TV series. Now these two actors lend their voices in the animated 60s reboot, which is perfectly considering the film displays a much lighter, humorous side of the caped crusader over the now more well known darker, serious side.

In addition, Julie Newmar also makes her return as the voice of Catwoman in this 79-minute cartoon awesomeness.

The story in this reboot revolves around stopping the nefarious schemes of four of Gotham’s most wanted villains, namely The Joker, Catwoman, Penguin and The Riddler. These iconic scoundrels combine their strengths against the Dynamic Duo and threaten Gotham City once again.

Watch the trailer below to get an idea of what to expect!

Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders is essentially the Batman film that travelled back in time to a sillier, simpler era. If you’re looking to experience the funnier, lighthearted Batman of the good old days, keep this movie on your radar!

In our previous episode, we covered Converse Counter Climate and the video received an overwhelmed response from you all, thanks to our Chief Editor Bryan Chin’s stupidity.

Get Ready For A Nasi Lemak Bonanza!

If you’re as crazy about nasi lemak as the average Malaysian food lover, the return of FriedChillies‘ gastronomy event – that promotes our beloved Malay fragrant rice dish – should leave you salivating.

Considered the largest nasi lemak event in the world, I Eat Nasi Lemak is back after a one-year hiatus to charm hungry foodies and people who show high cholesterol levels the middle finger this 5th November 2016!

An overwhelming wealth of nasi lemak action will take place on the day at TM Convention Centre, Bangsar from 9am to 5pm, with 40 carefully selected nasi lemak sellers under one roof! This time however, there are even more nasi lemak veterans hailing from beyond the Klang Valley. With vendors from Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Penang and Perak as well, we’re going to be spoilt for choice when deciding the flavour nuances to experience.

If you’ve ever felt like venturing beyond KL to try out the many kinds of nasi lemaks available but haven’t found the time, take advantage of this event to look out for the out-of-town sellers setting up shop there.

Among these vendors include Nasi Lemak Ujong Pasir from Melaka, nasi lemak ‘sup tauhu’ specialists Nasi Lemak Habib from Batu Pahat, Kulai’s Nasi Lemak Wak Kentut that serve theirs with heavenly fried chicken, and Nasi Lemak Pendekar Mustar from Penang.

Unsurprisingly, the popular nasi lemak eating competition will make a comeback with the sambal terpedas, makan terpantas’ category.

In the spirit of ‘Hari Kantin’, I Eat Nasi Lemak will retain its coupon system for participants to purchase, before trading them in for delicious ‘makan-ables’. So get your stomach ready for an assault of nasi lemaks and delectable lauks this 5th November!

WU TANG CLAN Graffitti Session at SS15, Subang

Malaysia is blessed with wonderful artists able to transform our dull urban landscape into a world bursting with colour. We’ve said this before, but true graffiti art isn’t vandalism, but a ‘creative affliction’ of the best possible kind.

Recently showcasing graffiti’s beauty are a team of local graffiti artists comprising Asmoe, JEF, Katun, KOS, Nestwo and Reeze. Together, they’ve led a graffiti session at SS15, Subang to commemorate an American hip hop group, the Wu Tang Clan.

Check out this 2-minute video on how these artists weaved their creative magic.

The Evolution of The Nike Air Max

Just a few days ago, Nike released footage of their flagship Air Max silhouette, the Nike Air Max 2017. Similar to all AM releases, the focus will be entirely on comfort and support, and it is no different with the 2017 model. The 2017 version features 360-degrees of visible Air within the midsole, Engineered Mesh on the upper, and a slicker design to the overall built compared to the shoe’s recent predecessors.

With the official release date set on the 7th of November, we thought it would be nice to try and revisit the entire Air Max family to see how far the Air Max Technology has come. Check it out below and do let us know in the comments section which is your favourite Air Max.

*Disclaimer: Even though we mentioned the “entire” AM family, it would be good to note that we are not Wikipedia and might have left out a few, so do let us know which one we left out.*
