Someway, Somehow by Pusher feat. Darren Ashley

The vocals of local electro wizard Darren Ashley have boarded an ecstasy filled track by Toronto-based artist and producer Marty Bernie, otherwise known as Pusher. The track, titled “Someway, Somehow”, is integral to Pusher’s debut EP called New Laces that presents 6 other tracks showcasing a smorgasbord of featured artists.

Before we abuse our audio jacks binge listening to Pusher’s entire EP, let’s get one thing out of the way: “Someway, Somehow” is happiness reincarnated as sound. An aural wonderland of flying whales and uplifting electronic beats, it’s exactly the kind of song you’d expect Darren’s melodious whispers to star in.

It’s worth noting how Pusher and Darren’s musical styles seem incredibly similar, from the happy-go-lucky vibe to the mix of audio quirks utilised. Essentially, Darren was the perfect featured artist for the track, complementing Pusher’s music like peanut butter and jelly.

MrSuicideSheep, a Youtuber that uploads primarily electronic music, has featured “Someway, Somehow” on his channel, which you can view right at the top. Great music deserves great exposure, so do yourself a favour and experience it now!

If Pusher’s music is leaving you starving for more electro goodness, you’ll definitely want to dig deeper into his New Laces EP. Look below for the rest of his riveting tracks:

Show Off Your Creativity by Painting The Rail Future!

Art savvy Malaysians looking for greater domestic exposure should pay attention to the LRT3-inspired art contest which was just announced today. Called “Painting The Rail Future”, this pun-titled contest entails participants to submit creative illustrations on the evolution of Malaysia’s rail transportation.

The competition is open to youngsters just getting acquainted with school life all the way up to seniors with a penchant for graphic design. Of course, not everyone is going to be participating on equal footing.

“Painting The Rail Future” is divided into four categories, namely primary school students between 7 and 12 years old; secondary school students between 13 and 17 years old; university students; and an open category, with prizes up to RM3,000 cash.

The best entries – which will be decided by a representative from Prasarana Malaysia as well as notable personalities in the creative space – will be featured on hoardings and other LRT3-related promotional material with credit given to the original artists. The promoted artwork will last throughout the construction of the LRT3 project.

All submitted illustrations will be evaluated based on how well the artwork approaches the essence of theme, it’s uniqueness, quality of artistic composition and overall impression of the design.

Here’s a look at the contest categories in greater detail:

If you’re wondering what the upcoming LRT3 is all about, this is exactly what this art contest intends to create awareness on. No, the LRT3 isn’t an extension of an existing rail network. It’s to be an entirely new rail transportation system spanning 37km and 26 stations, which will extend across the Western Corridor of Klang Valley.

For some 2 million people living and working between Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya and Johan Setia in Klang, this means enhanced connectivity and mobility in the locale. For the creative, artistic Malaysian however, this means at least 2 million people appreciating your undoubtedly masterful depiction of the country’s rail future.

If this interests you, you can submit your entry anytime between now and 13th December 2016. Don’t forget to visit LRT3’s official website for more information regarding the “Painting the Rail Future” art contest, or on the LRT3 project itself!

Pantun “Pins” Hyped Sneakers In Recent Tri-Collaboration

Almost everyone who made their way to the recently concluded SneakerLah 2016 will be aware of Pantun‘s dive into sneaker culture for their latest arsenal of vibrant and cutesy pins.

Collaborating with the local sneaker convention’s organisers in tandem with artist and bonafide sneakerhead Janggut Bear, Pantun shrunk the likeness of 7 hyped footwears onto adorable little pins. Thanks to Janggut Bear’s signature “fluffy sneakers” style of illustration, each pin oozes enough individuality and cool factor to be as aesthetically pleasing as its original, wearable counterparts.

In traditional Pantun fashion, each pin design – all crafted with the highest quality metals and enamel – is available in very limited quantities. Originally stocking only 100 pieces per design, Pantun has even less now; the collection’s debut at SneakerLah 2016 drew much attention and buying interest. After all, who doesn’t love a mini Yeezy Boost 350?

If you’re interested in these highly sought after pins, from the 2016 Nike Air Mag to the NMD Human Race, you can grab the remaining pieces through Pantun’s webstore. It’s only RM30 for each pin!

Local underground post-hardcore/pop mosh band Patriots has just released their latest music video titled “Terranova”, a track lifted from their StandOff EP. The band, once known as Heart-A-Tack, has seen an overhaul of sorts with a few changes in their line-up as well.

Terranova is Patriots’ anthem on their new identity and direction after 7 years in the music scene.

“This song is about us sharing this passion and the undying determination to be successful in what we do. We’ve been friends for almost 15 years and we just wanted to compose a song which we can truly relate and feel close to,” says Amir Shazrin, the band’s vocalist.
