AGAINST LAB for CONVERSE: ‘RE(CONS)TRUCTION’

As a multidisciplinary creative entity, Against Lab is always striving to push the envelope with its creations. From the drawing board to execution, the process that goes into each product is meticulously scrutinized, adding elements that are inherently unique to Against Lab.

In conjunction with the Sneakerlah sneaker convention on the 18th of October, Against Lab has been given the opportunity to partner up with Converse to customize 5 pairs of Converse Chuck Taylor High Top.
Naming the project ‘RE(CONS)TRUCTION’, it is actually a reference on many levels, the most obvious being our re-interpretation of the shoes by incorporating our own ideas into these classic silhouettes using materials that give each pair a particular persona.

While four pairs have undergone the customization process, one pair will be customized live by illustrator and graffiti artist Clockwork at Sneakerlah.

Drop by Sneakerlah on Sunday the 18th of October 2015, located on the 3rd floor of Lot 10 shopping center, in Kuala Lumpur to see the complete set of Against Lab’s customized Converse Chuck Taylor High Tops.

Justin Chew – Spring Summer 2016 “Reboot”

A renowned Malaysian designer and co-founder of ThisAppear store, Justin Chew has unveiled his latest masterpiece for the Spring Summer 2016 – Reboot. The collection was inspired by the way Bruno Munari described the unspoken language of hand gesture through elegant monochrome shots of array emotive hand expressions and clear-cut detailed texts in his book “Speak Italian: The Fine Art of Gesture”.

Captivated by the urban street culture, the collection comprises of customised denim and patched work of over-sized silhouettes with subliminal message graphic printed on its back. Apart from that, he deliberately used incorrect grammar in the design to signify his rebellious side while at the same time emphasising the influence of street art towards him.

Head on to Justin Chew official website to check out his full collection.

Here is an update from Fendy Zaidan of Junk Cult on his ants situation with his Ultra Boost pair. In our previous post, we were treated to only pictures of the hole they made. Today we are treated to a video of the ants walking in and out of the sole. It appears that the aerosol can wasn’t really effective. Might need to call pest control on this!

We’re kinda lost for words here. It is kinda funny to see ants making a home in your shoe, but at the same time we feel the pain. How many of you feel Fendy’s pain?
