Mayhem Fixed: Rolltop Backpack V2

Local brand hailing from Shah Alam City is back with the second version of their popular Rolltop Backpack. The brand has long been very involved in the fixed gear community of Malaysia, and have been a key supporter of the fixie movement since the beginning. They first released their Rolltop backpack sometime back and have been widely popular among the fixed gear riders and supporters of the brand and now they are back with their second version.

A key feature of the backpack is that it can either used in the roll-top mode or in a traditional flap-down set. The rolltop feature gives the bag the ability to quickly double in size when needed for extra cargo carrying. The backpack also features a laptop section that can fit most 13″ laptops or any tablets. To sweeten the deal, the backpack is water resistant.

The backpack is already available for sale and will be going for RM250 per pop. Get in touch with Mayhem Fixed at their email (mayhemfixed@gmail.com) to get yourself one today.

Ants VS Ultra Boost

It’s a known fact that one of the first things that we do when we reach work is to open up Facebook. It’s like second nature to us. Lo and behold, when I did that this morning, I saw this status in one of the most active Malaysian streetwear groups that I am in:-

fendyboostants

Fendy is one of the admins of the “Streetwear Stuff Malaysia” group and also the founder of local streetwear brand Junkcult. Apparently, a bunch of ants have decided to jump in on the Ultra Boost hype and decided to make his pair their home. They have gain entry into the Boost’s sole by making tiny holes in the sole and making a make shift nest in it.

He has sprayed the shoe with some anti-pest aerosol and cleared the shoe of most of the ants, but the damage has been done, as you can see from the pictures above. After posting that up, apparently he is not the only one facing the problem, another group member apparently faces the same problem, just that instead of ants, he claims some roaches have had a bite out of it.

Let us know in the comments section whether you are experiencing any of this “natural disaster” with your adidas Ultra Boost, or any shoes with the Boost Technology for that matter.

Saucony Grid 9000 Hallowed “Ghostly White”

Halloween is around the corner and Saucony Originals want in on the spooky action. For the special scary occasion, Saucony Originals will be releasing a special Grid 9000 pair dubbed as the “Hallowed” pair. Internationally, instead of just one pair, it was released as a pack, but unfortunately for the local drop, it just features the “ghostly” white toe pair. The pair utilizes black on the back half of the shoe and a off-white colour to highlight the front of the sneaker. The pair is finished off with a speckled midsole.

The pair is set to drop this week at selected Saucony Originals retailers in Malaysia and will be retailing at RM329 per pair.

The collaboration comprises of 9-piece wardrobe of wearable separates that includes a printed cotton bomber, oxford shirts and a pair of slim high-waist trousers inspired by the way men dressed back in the 60’s across America’s West Coast. Furthermore, the direction of the collection goes with the Retro American Style that emphasizes on leaner legs and boxier tops with a hint of floral print accents to bring “Palm Springs” to life.

After years of being active in the KL nightlife scene, singer/songwriter Ushera has recently launched her debut single called, “Give Me” – paying homage to the 90s house music era, with a modern-day jazz twist.

Ushera’s music video for “Give Me” projects a sultry vibe throughout the entirety of the video, whereby she also inadvertently suggests trials and tribulations of a romantic relationship with a possible love interest – sensual, wouldn’t you agree?

MASSES Picks: 5 Movies You Probably Have Not Watched (September)

Battle-Royale3

Here’s another list of movies for you to watch during your free time and as usual, these were banned or not shown on the big screen at local cinemas. We have 2 international movies along with some Hollywood fare to keep you entertained. Don’t worry, the movies listed for this month are not sick or gory in nature this time around, heh.

Feel free to leave a comment at the bottom and share your thoughts with the rest of us.

1. Funny Games (1997)

Peter and Paul, a deeply mentally disturbed duo, terrorize a lakeside vacation home belonging to married couple Anna and Georg and their son Georgie. Even the family pet, Rolfi, isn’t spared from the cruelty dispensed from the homicidal pair and what follows is a series of games of pain and death. What makes this film interesting (and creepy) is Paul breaking the fourth wall occassionally to talk to you.

2. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

Harry Lockhart, a crook, meets his childhood sweetheart, Harmony Lane, after an audition for a mystery film. Winning the part, he is soon thrown into the seedy side of Hollywood and gets entangled into a murder conspiracy involving Harmony’s sister and getting help from gay private eye, Perry van Shrike. Smart and clever, watch what happens to the trio as they delve deeper into their investigation.

3. Death Proof (2007)

Stuntman Mike has a sick hobby; in his spare time, he takes women on deadly rides that end… permanently. His muscle car has been geared up for maximum impact, which he rides on purpose to crash with the intent to kill as many passengers as he can along the way. Getting away with barely a scratch on his “accidents”, Stuntman Mike is about to meet his match in the form of 3 women who are about to remind him that karma is a bitch…

4. Bronson (2008)

Based on real life Charles Bronson aka Michael Peterson, this film begins after he is caught for a robbery at a jewelry store and sentenced to 7 years in jail. Notoriously famous for being a savage and one of the UK’s most dangerous criminals, watch as he gets into constant mayhem with jail guards, fellow inmates and even a dog. This semi-biographical film is narrated with humor, a sick one.

5. Battle Royale (2000)

Inspired by the novel of the same name, the movie takes place on a deserted island with the premise that secondary school classes are picked at random and coerced to take arms against one another with outcome of each fight shown on television. Each season can have only 1 student as the survivor, with the metal collar ensuring that all goes according to the rules set. Watch as the ugly sides of humans are brought to the surface as paranoia, grudges and fear take over. Forget the Hunger Games, this is the ugly and raw version that gave birth to it.

Maverick – “Deceivers & Betrayals” Collection

With just one month in the industry, Maverick has kept replenishing stocks of their collections for several times as the demand increases. Founded by a young couple, Ben and Kyra are both well experienced in the clothing industry even before the birth of Maverick, Fast-forward the brand’s tagline for their first debut collection “Deceivers & Betrayals” had created some buzz as it epitomizes our country’s current economic and politic condition.

Check out their official Instagram and Facebook account to know how to cop their stuff, or head on to their booth at the Tempatan Fest Alor Setar to purchase it directly from them. Plus, be on a lookout, as they will be releasing another two more collections sometime in October.
