A new brand hailing from the emerald of Southeast Asia, Penang Island, ‘Psycho’ debuts it’s first batch of t-shirts, named Abstract. Psycho is defined as someone or something that’s crazy and insane. It is abstract, and exists in thought instead of a concrete existence. The design is based on a very abstract way, applying a mirror effect of a water-inked women body figure, representing a dual personality.

MASSESzine no. 2 : The UNDERDOG Issue

masseszine1

We don’t really have names for each issue of our MASSESzine, but we have themes, which is quite a common thing in the print world. Although Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations is already upon us, and with our independence day fast approaching, it would be the cliché or common thing to call it the “RAYA” issue, or the “MERDEKA” issue. We would like to call this one the UNDERDOG issue because we would like to dedicate this issue to the things that speaks of our culture and who we are as Malaysians, but besides that, what we really want to highlight in this issue are the forgotten things, the unsung heroes, or the usual sight that we take for granted.

We hope this issue inspires every one of you to stay true to who you are, to stay genuine and to do things differently, the weird way, or the less glamorous way. Because in our differences and our diversity, is what makes us genuinely Malaysian. Check out the picture below to see the list of shops that will be stocking

Nurzaimah Zulkarnain is the name of our new iotd. Originally from Kluang, Johor, this 22 year-old is studying in a local university in Bangi. She feels that Instagram is the best medium for her to spend her free time. Instagram as well as her two closest friends who are photographers, inspired her to pick up photography. She enjoys understanding the functions of cameras and how they work. For someone with absolutely zero basic knowledge in photography, she turned to her friends for guidance.

“It took a while for me to create art from photography. After finding what interests me most; which are minimalistic posts of food, flowers and accessories, I started actively posting using my Instagram account,” says Nurzaimah. “Most photographs were taken at home using a DSLR, thus I have to prepare all the equipment on my own. It is very different from photographing in cafes or restaurants.”

Nike WMNS Kaishi July 2014 Release

The saying “Ladies first” is usually the case when it comes to new Nike model releases in Malaysia. The Roshe runs were first released in women’s sizing when it came to our Malaysian shores. The Air Max Thea too had the same treatment. Although it is a model made generally for the ladies, but we know quite a few of the male sneakerheads would like a piece of the action too. Today, the brand new Nike Kaishi is no different.

nike d1

This month the Nike Kaishi surfaced for the first time. The pair takes cues from the incredibly popular Roshe Run silhouette, and maybe a bit of the very popular woman’s Air Max Thea. The upper of the Kaishi looks like a cross breed between the Roshe Run and the Air Max Thea. Material wise, we see Nike using a similar mesh seen on the Roshe Runs on the majority of the Kaishi’s upper. As for the midsole, the front of the midsole looks similar to the Roshe Run, and the back similar to the Air Max Thea.

We already know that the Roshe Run model was a huge hit here in Malaysia, where pairs would fly off the shelves in high numbers due to its simplistic yet stylish looks and economical pricing. But the biggest question here is whether or not the Nike Kaishi can match up to the Roshe Run’s success? Is this model a cop or drop? Let us know.

The pair is already available at most Nike retailers nationwide.
