The third installment from Junk Culture this year is out. Previewing their headgear selection from delivery 3 first, it sees the brand trying something else and taking the road less traveled. While most of the local and international brands heading for more and more print patterns, Junk Culture decided to head in a different route and produced a woven campcap, which is sort of the highlight of the delivery. The rest of the delivery consist of beanies and their signature ‘Destroyer’ snapback.
As usual, sticking to the brand’s policy, everything is produced to as minimal pieces possible, to keep it between friends and family. All headgear shown here are already available for sale at selected retailers across the Klang Valley and also on their Facebook page.
It’s a floral orgy this time round. New one from Rare Clothing called the “Hawaiian Series” Part 1. The materials used to make the caps are sourced directly from Honolulu, Hawaii and the caps are produced here in Malaysia. We have seen a few local brands going the extra mile in their creations like in this instance, sourcing materials directly from their source of inspiration for their collection, and pushing the standards in our local streetwear scene.
A part 2 is already in the works which consist of snapbacks and matching pocket tees which are planned to be released in a months time. In the meantime, the caps from the “Hawaiian Series” Part 1 are going for RM120 a pop and already available for sale. Get in touch with Rare Distro to get some.

A brand founded by local skaters Yuki Miyasaka and Aqif Haziq. Established in 2008, and finally after 5 years of planning they are ready to come out of their cave and into our world. Like artist who take pride in their work, the concept behind the brand is to use clothing as a message to our society, while looking good in it at the same time. They had previously released a few pieces in the past years which are featured in the images below, but only to friends and family and that is why the brand has been on the low for all these years.
Yuki took the liberty of explaining why the logo of the brand is a Fox, “A fox is an animal who studies its prey for months and then decides to hunt for the best timing, which shows an animal that instinctively pay attention to details. The brand aims to be just like that”. There still isn’t much information on the brand just yet, but from what we were told, the brand will be launching a collection real soon. So stay tune.

Malaysia’s premier progressive rock band, Deja Voodoo Spells aka DVS just released their latest video called Dangerous Knowledge. And with Rockaway coming round pretty soon, it is a good preview of what to expect when they open for Lamb Of God next month. The video has some interesting footage of the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center and other incidents that is centered around Nostradamus’s prophecies. The 20 minute odd video gets to fully feature the technical skills of each member in the band.
Enjoy the video while you rock away your Monday blues.
To commemorate the existence of RBTH Clothing as well as the emergence of Native Instructions out of their beloved City, Johor Bahru, they have both collaborated to release the JOHOR BAHRU OG Reversed Tee in a series called ‘Spell Your City Right’. This simple, straight forward comprehensible approach is fundamentally important as it carries a sense of pride to the city they are all from. Although the reversed spelling of a city has been done by several international ( and local ) streetwear brands, but it is something about wanting to rep your city that you hustle in that makes it fresh.
The release “Spell Your City Right” stands more than just a sentence; it’s about knowing where your roots are. Because if you don’t spell your city right, others won’t do it for you.
The first sighting of fireworks in history was dated back all the way to AD600 in China. But in our modern day, we have come to associate fireworks and firecrackers very strongly with the holiday seasons and also with Independence Day. The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Premium QS “Firecracker” was released just before the 4th of July, which is the independence day for the United States of America. Inspired by the firecrackers brand called “Crackers” and their signature white stars on red stripes packaging, this Quickstrike pack includes luxury suede uppers, fireworks graphic insole and words ” WARNING / EXPLOSIVE ” on the red pair and ” CAUTION / FLAMMABLE ” on the black pair.
By far this is one of the best looking dunk lows released from the Nike SB camp this year and with our very own Independence day fast approaching, it would look really good on your feet as you watch the fireworks in display. The pack is already available at Showroom.
