P-Rod 7

The seventh edition of the signature “P-Rod” SB sneaker, which gets a total re-design. Taking cues from the classic Nike Dunk silhouette, the Nike SB P-Rod 7 puts emphasis on impact protection without losing the direct connection to your board. Pairing of a mesh tongue with a perforated leather upper alongside suede paneling, these kicks offer breathability and protection. The P-Rod VII is also built around a brand new last that allows for superior flexibility and comfort.  The use of the “LunarLon” midsole returns as the cushion of choice which protects the heel as well as the mid foot.

The one particular detail that seals the deal for us with this shoe is the tiger stripe texture. Looks wildly RAD! The shoe is available today onward at SHOWROOM & Heavy Weight.

Black History Month

Although this pack has been released somewhat early in the year, in February to be exact, and we have no affiliation or even celebrate the ‘Black History Month’ here in Malaysia, but heck,  it’s never too late to celebrate a great looking shoe. The pack that will be dropping in Malaysia will consist of the Nike SB Dunk Low “Black History Month’ and the Nike SB Dunk High “McRad”.

The Dunk Low Pro was created for pro skater Theotis Beasley which features an Afro-centric/Rastafarian color scheme of red, black, green and gold.  The construction features black and green leather with red suede on the toe.  The black midsole sits right on top of an icy clear outsole while the “McRad”  Dunk High features a black, white and green upper, accented with yellow and red detailing throughout.

The “McRad” is already available since last weekend while the “BHM” Dunk Low drops tomorrow 12pm at SHOWROOM.

Devise Volume 1 – 2013 Detailed Look

After releasing their anniversary collection “10 Bloody Years” in the first half of the year, Devise is prepared to drop their first collection for the year titled “Volume 1 – 2013”. Staying true to the brand’s theme, the collection will mostly be in black, or as we mentioned before, shades of black. The use of their signature camo is seen on some of the pieces, but isn’t over used as the collection is set on keeping it simple yet very much focused on the details and quality of the product. The collection definitely embodies the term “Less is More”.

We also notice a new tagline that comes with the new collection, “Hear Others, Listen To Yourself” which preaches about staying true and believing in yourself while others may try to persuade you otherwise.

The collection will consist of 5 items and will be dropping this coming Saturday at 12am, which will be made available on their online store, blog and Facebook page. While waiting for the launch and the full lookbook from them, enjoy a detailed look of the upcoming release courtesy of yours truly, us.

Looks like the guys over at Achtung KL are hard at work. Not even a month after Tempatan Fest 2.0 is done, they have announce that Tempatan Fest 3.0 is in the works. The event is supposedly to happen somewhere in October. So for all local streetwear labels who wanna participate, make sure to get in touch with the organizers. As for local streetwear fans, get ready for more action coming to you in October.

Hujung Empire

IMG_9658

With events like KLIK Fest and Tempatan Fest just concluding not too long ago, we saw the emergence of many new and upcoming local clothing labels from this events, one of them is Hujung Empire. From humble beginnings as Hujung Store in BB Plaza back in year 2008, they have now expanded into having their own clothing line known as Hujung Empire.

How they came up with the name ‘Hujung’ is actually a pretty funny story. Back when the shop just started out, Faris, the founder of Hujung Store would give directions to his shop by saying, “Kedai yang paling HUJUNG skali, itula kedai aku”. So that’s how the name stuck with him until today even though they have now moved into a cyber store and no longer have the physical store, which might be opening back after the Hari Raya festive season.

They recently released a new collection of t-shirts and is now available for purchase. So if you guys like what you see, head on over to Hujung Empire‘s Facebook page and show them some love. IMG_9812grid 2 grid 3 IMG_9638

Tempatan Clothing – Making History Cool

A relatively very new brand, Tempatan Clothing has been around  in our local clothing scene for only 10 weeks. This brand was started by Joshua Ismail Fitton as a passion project. It’s goal was to instill nostalgia and to educate us Malaysians on our own history. It is important to know our own history, as it is what makes us who we are today.

“People these days don’t go to museums, so I thought it would be amazing if people walked around with a piece of history and art, something like a museum, on their tshirts” – Joshua elaborated the logic behind starting Tempatan Clothing.

Currently there are only 5 designs produced by them, which is pretty a lot considering the brand has only been around for only 10 weeks. Each design has a unique story and meaning to it, and every t-shirt comes with a tag that explains the background and history of the artwork.

So if any of you were slacking off in your history classes back in high-school, we think you should make it a point to get some tees to do some catching up.

In case you guys are wondering what is SSCG, it stands for SuperSunday-Concept Gear, which is done by the same guys of The Super Sunday Concept Store located at Bukit Bintang’s Monorail station. Just a little background on The Super Sunday, it was started in 2007 by it’s founder Kioue who is widely recognize as a graffiti artist and also the founder of KAYU clothing. They are the guys who are responsible for all the graffiti you see in the big storm drain that is near Central Market’s LRT station, which was a graffiti event organized by them.

Their new line this time around is all about trying something new that is different from their usual look. Rearranging, experimenting and changing their view on fashion in streetwear which is a constantly changing scene. And if any of you who are wondering, “Who the hell is Mokhtar??” in their SSUR spin off ‘Commes Des Mokhtar’ tee and crewneck, hit them up on their Facebook page here and ask them yourself. In the meantime, enjoy the lookbook.

Help Save Rhinos, Eat More Budu?

Cheese Denim is at it again. Their latest release is in the form of 2 t-shirts. Their first design is somewhat an awareness campaign on how endangered the rhinos are and are in need of saving from the human race as they are usually poached for their horns which is highly sought after for their medicinal purposes for rheumatism, arthritis and fever. So eat more cheese and not rhinos horns.

On the subject of eating, the second design is about one of Malaysia’s finest sauce in our  vast Malaysian food selection, the ‘Budu’ sauce. The design was done by a local street artist that goes by the name of Mr. Burp. Any fan of cheese and Cheese Denim would agree if you add cheese to anything it would definitely taste better.
