SneakerHEAD by Cloakwork

AirJordan_lowres

SneakerHEAD is a series of artwork done by Cloakwork, a local graffiti artist that recently won the “Cut&Paste” event together with another graffiti artist Kenji BlackFryday which was held a couple of months back. Cloakwork started out graffing as a hobby somewhere in year 2009 and has never looked back since, having managed to travel to several parts of Malaysia and different parts of Southeast Asia to spread his art.

In the series you can see Cloakwork using signature sneakers of famous celebrities or athletes as their heads, like the AJ1 Black Toe in the famous Jumpman Logo shoot as Micheal Jordan, or the Air Yeezy 1 to depict Kanye west. He has also ventured into the Star Wars series which also depicts the characters from Star Wars with their own Adidas signature sneakers. He has a total of 17 different artwork done so far and counting.

Following up the release of their LANSI 2013 3rd quarter collection release, the Lansi Taikors of The Swagger Salon will be releasing something slightly different from their usual stuff which is, shirts! NSFW usually stands for Not Safe For Work, but in this case we let the guys at The Swagger Saloon explain:-

“Not Safe For Work? We don’t think so. How about Nice Shirts For Work? or Weddings. Nice Shirts For Weekends. Or Weekdays. Or Whenever. And Wherever….. That’ll make you a Nice Sight For Women. NSFW. Now Start Feeling Worthy.”

The full collection will be launching in August with a total of 5 different colored shirts to choose from.

A Detailed Look At Lansi 2013 Q3 Collection

The Swagger Salon is back with more clothes to help boost your Lansi-ness to a new level. Being a brand that is very graffiti and hip-hop based, their latest release shows most of the t-shirts having a very graffiti inspired theme. But the one t-shirt that is really interesting in this release is the t-shirt with the circus inspired artwork.

The story behind the artwork is regarding our local streetwear industry, which can be sometimes very competitive, full of gossip and backstabbing, and more often than not, unoriginal. And in this case, all this fiasco can get very entertaining, like a streetwear circus. Not many brands would produce a t-shirt with this kind of a story behind it, but then again not many brands have LANSI written on their t-shirts.

CNLM of Penang

CNLM in small caps kinda looks like the font’s version of the middle finger, like this:-

And yes, it really does look like it. The brand originates from the emerald of Southeast Asia, Penang Island. A place where the queues for food is longer than any queue for a pair of quickstrike sneakers in Malaysia. Seriously. Don’t believe us, just Google “Nasi Beratur”. Anyways we’re not here to talk about Penang Island, but instead here to talk about CNLM that is a brand that is very much talking bout it’s own place of origin.

It’s really good to see more and more local brands embracing their local roots, in this case, CNLM’s latest release is the 04. collection, which is the dialing code for Penang in Malaysia. The collection consist of  just 2 items, the long sleeve 04 tee and the 604. snapback which stands for the international dialing code for Penang.

Our suggestion, head down to Penang Island to get a hold of the collection and try out “Nasi Beratur” while you’re at it.

Ohana Means Family Means Ménage

482798_149008115273956_1304527937_n

As we have mentioned in a few posts lately regarding our local streetwear scene, it has become quite a buzzing scene. With Tempatan Fest 2.0 just ending last weekend with a bang, and also not to forget The KLIK Fest (Kuala Lumpur Independent Klothing Festival) that also happened in the month of June, it’s hard not to notice all the new local brands that is popping up recently.

Well some of you guys might associate the brand Ménage, with the term Ménage à trois, which is a French term which originally described a domestic arrangement in which three people having sexual relations occupy the same household – the phrase literally translates as “household of three”. In modern simple terms, “Threesome”.

But, the word Ménage alone means FAMILY!

Established somewhere early this year, Ménage is one of those new brands that has been making waves in the local scene. DJ H3, members of The Padangs, members of I Revival, one of Singapore’s finest hardcore band Villes and even Jakarta’s leading hardcore band, Divide are just some of the bunch of people in the music scene spotted with the brands ‘Emblem’ tee.

If you like what you see, you can find out more about Ménage here.

Hazelnuts anyone?

Everyone was pretty much bonkers over the “Corks” which came out earlier this year. So if you didn’t manage cop a pair of “Corks”, here’s a chance for redemption. The Lebron X EXT QS “Brown Suede” or also known for its nama glamor, “Hazelnut”, sports a hazelnut upper, tan leather lining and light blue hits on the laces, tongue and full-length Zoom back. All that beauty will be sitting on a light blue icy sole which compliments the whole theme.

This pair will be dropping this coming Saturday 6th of July, at Hoops Station. Who’s camping for this?
