Have A Look At Sneakerlah’s New Merch Ahead Of The Event Date

Sneakerlah is coming up this weekend, and it’s only right that we preview to you our line of merchandise. As our intern has so eloquently put it, “merch gives fans something to remember an event by.” We thought about it, and thought about it again, and then pulled the trigger on several pieces of apparel and accessories.

Applying the graphical masterwork of Arma from Transit.KL, Sneakerlah’s line of merch comprises of a long sleeve shirt, standard t-shirt, lanyard, and socks. The long sleeve crewneck goes for RM 90, and t-shirt for RM 70. Socks are priced at RM 20 and the lanyard will go for RM 30. All of these can be purchased at Sneakerlah itself at Mid Valley Convention Centre, so better be cash ready for the event. Will you cop?

Jetcetera Debuts New Single, ‘Hear Me Out’

Channeling ‘Alvvays’ Vibes

We’re experiencing pretty good times in the music scene right now. New music is always at the forefront, new bands are formed, and new sounds emerge that always adds another flavour into the stirring pot that is the Malaysian music scene. One of those new entries is a musical ensemble that makes itself a conduit for indie pop/dream pop to flourish and grow, otherwise known as Jetcetera.

The band’s new single is a familiar premise that we’ve all been through at some point, so it’s not a complete outlier of our emotional spectrum. The song revolves around being in a limbo of wanting to work it out and wanting to end the relationship, an ambiguity of whether is it worth continuing or to leave. It’s contradictory at best, regretting the end that you saw coming a mile away.

Melody wise, it’s an easy get go. Smooth vocals with upbeat guitars and drumming adds a certain level of urgency to its indecision, conveying desperation combined with conflicting solutions make for a very heartfelt song that we’ve come to known in the times we’ve put behind.

One can only wonder whether the band’s EP will be a compilation of songs in the same vein, or a kaleidoscope that explores the whole spectrum of emotions through its dream-esque music. One thing’s for certain though. A new sound on our shores? We welcome it with open arms.

Adidas Drops A Prophere That You Actually Want

With The Help Of Rap Group SOB x RBE

The Prophere represents a rebellious mindset. An act of an outsider upon the norms of society, the shoe is launched subsequently with with the help of a few rising stars in west coast rap, SOB x RBE.

The newly formed rap group, known for their laidback, off-beat rhythms and homegrown energy encapsulates all that the Prophere stand for, and being in Vallejo, California brings forth this element clear as day, but let’s talk about the shoe itself, because it’s something you would actually want.

While all the other Propheres had relatively modern colourways and patterns, this colourway represents a homage to the classic colours that reflects Addias, and the silhouette looks especially good in triple black paired with the white cage that doubles as the three stripes. The alternative version sees the cage coloured to ‘Hot Pink’ instead, if you fancy a pop of colour.

Going RM 489, the new colourways of the Prophere will be releasing on the 4th of October worldwide. Cop or drop?

WATCH The X-Men “Dark Phoenix” Trailer Now

Better Than “Apocalypse?”

Let’s just put it this way. While “Apocalypse” wasn’t a total disaster, it was still horrible in comparison to the previous X-Men movies and made it seem as Days Of Future Past is an Oscar winning movie. Apart from that, Disney was in talks of acquiring 20th Century Fox, which pushed the release dates back as negotiations continued on, and it may seem that the movie will have never even had a chance to surface.

Now though, it’s a whole different story, and “Dark Phoenix” seems like the most promising one yet.

The movie is set 10 years after the events of Apocalypse, focusing its plot line on Jean Gray (played by Sophie Turner) discovering her antithesis, The Phoenix after accidentally unlocking a higher power. Professor X (played by James McAvoy) tries to avoid this by not telling her the truth, which then fails as Phoenix turns to Magneto for help.

While this storyline has been foreshadowed and realised in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, this iteration follows closer to the actual comic book story then the other two, so it should be exciting to say the least.

Departure From The Status Quo: Pestle And Mortar Debuts Their FW18 Collection

Duality

Not long before, Pestle and Mortar announced that they were closing down their flagship store in Bangsar which caught the lot of us to be surprised. What we didn’t know, is that the revival of the brand in a new overhaul was coming our way, and it’s a big one.

“As Above, So Below” explores the spectrum, specifically the point where dark meets light. A gargantuan 38-piece collection, the collection offers a look that brings traditional elements forward into a post-apocalyptic scenario. Think kimono in a Neo-Tokyo synthwave setting.

Inspirations from Bosozoku and Delinquent aesthetics were drawn for their key pieces and is slightly bit twisted to give it a more Malaysian flavour. Chinese replaces the Kanji in all clothing that has typography, a ‘kapcai’ is featured as well, and the bomber features Nyonya inspired graphics to go along with the theme. Synthwave also plays a major part in the design ethos, with one t-shirt featuring Mt. Kinabalu in 2D polygons with the PMC wording, very reminiscent of Kung Fury design aesthetics.

We come now to the pièce de résistance of the entire collection: a black Moonlight Haori done in collaboration with DY/DX studios. Japanese utilitarian design styling is fused with rebellious nature, accented by Bosozoku inspired graphics embroidered in gold on the back and chest. Construction is kept lightweight yet functional with 6 pockets, tying together all elements that result in what is called, the “Black Emperor Haori.”

The collection debuted with much flamboyance, after hosting its runway show inside an LRT from Kelana Jaya station to Pasar Seni. PMC is the opening move in 4 way chess game between Prasarana, SOCAR, Touch N Go Digital and PMC in its #MultiflexFriday campaign, which promises to bring more entertainment into public transport in the near future.

All pieces of PMC’s FW18 collection is available to purchase at Major Drop now.

WDHANFTSY: Adidas PureBoost GO

We finally put a pair of shoes to the test. Boasting exceptional stability and comfort for training, Julian ‘Sunflower’ Leong (IG: @julianleong) and Bryan ‘Botak’ Chin (IG: @bryanbotakchin) walk the Adidas PureBoost Go through its paces, with a little help from a friend.

“What The?” Lebron 16s Are Dropping Next Month

We usually get the ‘What The?’ models late into the model’s timeline, usually by the end of the product cycle to commemorate all the previous colourways and patterns into a single pair. This round however, Nike has done a complete 180 on its model line, by introducing the ‘What The?’ model first in pre heat.

Let’s talk about the model first, the Lebron 16. A hard step-up from the15, which is by miles Lebron’s best looking shoe, the 16 follows the same design silhouette with several key changes. Strength is the focal point, and Nike has updated the shoe with Battleknit 2.0, their most durable and lightest knit pattern today, with symmetric patterns adorning the upper. Air/Zoom combo is brought over from the 15, and a leather heel counter and tab completes it.

Nothing about the shoe matches. Two types of multicolours don the knits on both sides of the pair, while the outsole is finished with a wild camo multicolour and gradient patterns. Laces too have alternate colours in blue and red, while the heel tabs are finished in white and black; white featuring the edition number, and black featuring a lion’s head with embroidered gold eyes. Hard stuff.

The ‘What The?’ Lebron 16s will be dropping on October 4 on Nike.com for RM 815. All hail the king.

For more Nike news, Edmond Looi has imagined up a Nike X Dragon Ball collab.

What If Nike Made A Dragon Ball Z Collab?

Wonder no longer fellow brethren. Local customiser Edmond Looi has realised your dreams, using an Off-White Presto as a foundation no less.

Reflecting Goku’s trademark uniform, the Presto gets dipped in orange with the Swoosh, rear midsole, insole lining, and heel strap coloured in blue and ripped slightly for a more battle worn look. The tongue features an embroidered patch featuring the character “悟” meaning enlightenment. Additional details include a leather tab printed with Goku’s signature hairdo, while the “AIR” wording is printed in white.

It is a bit sad though, because the pair is a one-off and not for sale, but we’d wager the custom looks a tad bit better than Adidas’ own rendition. We’ll leave that up to you.

KISS Frontman Now Has His Own PUMA Suede For Sale

Now you no longer have to rock just the band shirt

PUMA’s not putting the brakes on these collaborations. Right after Big Sean and ADER ERROR, the sportswear giant turns to the music scene, and immediately employs one of the biggest names in Rock & Roll for a partnership featuring the ever-versatile Suede 50 model.

Which is a bit unusual since the Suede’s never really intersected said region before. Nevertheless, KISS frontman Paul Stanley has a pair to his name, and it’s a looker.

We all know KISS. Probably not so much from the music, but for their extremely striking presence bearing black and white make-up, tongues out with the devil’s horns high up in the air. PUMA thought it best to imbue that spirit into the Suede, which results in a silhouette that’s loud, in your face, and drags whatever shred of attention you can get to your shoes.

Inspirations include references from their album “Animalize,” not just the face paint. The Suede’s upper is debossed with zebra print and black leather Formstrip, complete with a red leather heel tab and finished with finished with an off-white outsole. Co-branding is present on the tongue, and grills a la Air Force One are present. All in all, we’d say all elements of the rock band are distilled perfectly into this pair.

Bold enough for you? The Suede 50 X Paul Stanley will be available at PUMA KLCC and Sunway Pyramid at RM481 on September 27th.

The Complete Index To Streetwear Stores In Klang Valley

Klang Valley is a big melting pot of culture. Every now and then it’s not uncommon to come across a few people dressed head to toe in heat, and more often than not, it’s easy for the streetwear head to intersect with another decked out in a completely different style than you, and the level of diversity we have should be celebrated. While the sneaker scene here has been on the major rise thanks to the influx of extremely hype silhouettes, the city’s streetwear roots actually lie deep within skateboarding.

However, both of these realms often intersect, and as such, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best skate shops and streetwear shops scattered around the Klang Valley region.

Skate Shops

Showroom

One of the most OG skate shops around, Showroom is a one-stop-shop for all things skating. While stocking mostly apparel from Obey, Dickies, Undefeated, Ben Davies, Huf, and local brands like Against Lab, the store also sells new decks, wheels, and axles complete with a mini-half pipe to try your skateboard out before fine-tuning it.

The store is the only one here in Malaysia that carries Gosha Rubchinsky’s skateboard subdivision brand, PACCBET, as well as bringing in merch from Southeast Asia and endorsing local skateboarders with it. Pretty solid stuff.

Isetan The Japan Store

While this isn’t necessarily a standalone brick and mortar store, the flagship does bring over highly coveted brands from the land of the Far East, straight to you, the consumer. Only caveat is the impending hole in your wallet once you browse through its subsections. Mastermind Japan, Undercover, Commes Des Garcons, Porter, Off-White, all available under one roof.

A retail store that stocks a fair share of accessories and apparel, one that serves the entry level hypebeast all the way to collectors of a particular brand. Comprising of brands like Patta, Yeezy, and the usual Nike and Adidas collabs, it’s an easy store to like, given relative ease to purchase products at affordable prices, especially the clothing. However, look out for the grails on offer; a particular hand painted Collette shirt for last year’s Complex Con still sits on the shelf somewhere in the store.
