The Air Jordan 4 Raptors Are Restocking Soon

Champagne Papi > La Flame

The AJ4 ‘Raptors’ have been here a long, long time ago, but only now do we get some semblance of a stock on our shores. Unlike Travis’s ‘Cactus Jack’ AJ4s, the Raptors have had no affiliation with Drake whatsoever, although rumours were circulating around that this was meant to be Drake’s last collaboration pair with the brand before cutting off ties to join Adidas.

Turns out, it was all fart.

Nevertheless, the namesake stays as it is due to the colourway reflecting that of the Toronto Raptors’ house colours. the Air Jordan 4 gets draped in black nubuck upper, speckled purple midsole, finished off with red detailings on the outsole, cage, and linings on the tongue that adds a little bit of pop to the otherwise stealthy look. Jordan logo embraces the heel cup of the shoe in purple that completes the silhouette nicely.

Given that there’s no celebrity affiliations, it should be somewhat easier to cop when it drops on the 19th of September on Nike. Expect prices to retail at RM800+, and about twice that on the resell market. Will you cop it?

“It’s not just about the shoes. It’s about leaving a footprint”

Written by Sara Kong

This year, Kiddhir Baharuddin, also known as Kide, headlines Vans Custom Culture with his original style of painting and striking choice of colours, bringing a taste of Malaysia to the whole of Asia, one artwork at a time.

House of Vans 2018 enters its third year in Malaysia by drawing a growingly eager crowd to its creative abodes, rallying like-minded people who thrive on culture, creativity and the freedom to express themselves. Whether it’s in the form of arts and crafts, music or photography, House of Vans got you covered!

Over the course of three days (7th to 9th September 2018), 2 Hang Kasturi played host to a myriad of workshops and performances that were bound to leave you clawing your way back for more.

As Munir Muhammad, the Marketing Manager of Vans Malaysia, eloquently puts it, “It’s about going out there and doing what you love”.

Simply by touring the basement of House of Vans, visitors were pleasantly welcomed to their Asian roots by embracing the traditional method of fabric dyeing known as Batik with Sharina Shahrin, the founder of Baju by Sharina.

And if you’re still hung up on who let the dogs out, look no further. It’s skater turned artist, Donald Abraham and his Skatedog Workshop. Allowing visitors to assemble and customise their own ‘Halal Dog’. Who would’ve thought that a little carpentry and a whole lot of imagination would bring worn out skateboard decks to life?

“There’s always people who want to create. And this is their time to shine”. Elijah Kislevitz, Regional Marketing Director of Vans Singapore and Malaysia, describes House of Vans as an annual event that continues to surprise both its visitors and organisers. With Asia’s cultural landscape constantly evolving, who knows what will happen in the years to come?

“It’s about going out there and doing what you love”.

Photography enthusiasts were treated with eye candy from the works of Ajiem Serr who has dwelled in the realm of skateboard photography for the past 13 years. His grit series entitled ‘Another Day To The Streets’ captures the perseverance of skateboarders in its entirety.

Visitors could also opt to take a stroll along Vision Walk, a photography series which encompasses the works of people who uses photography to find a unique point of view of the world.

Skateboarders were served with a refreshing perspective on art as illustrator cum designer, Tuck Wai presents skateboarding as a form of martial arts practised by a cult of skeleton monks. Interweaving oriental brush strokes with the skate punk culture of today’s generation. House of Vans ended each night with a full-house waiting for a musical climax from the likes of Raising The Bar and Vans Musicians Wanted 2018, that beautifully encompasses what Vans and its associated culture is all about.

ACRONYM’s Second Iteration Of The Presto Mid Lands Next Week

Now’s Your Chance

The first ACRONYM Presto blew the model into outright fame after being relatively clouded by other silhouettes before this, and subsequently become the word frequently spitted out by sneakerheads in the scene, and for good reason too. The T-shirt for shoes get a techwear upgrade by way of bold use of neon colours, offset with darker tones and offered an olive counterpart to balance out the bright hues. Cutting was increase to the mid, and a zip was added onto the medial portion as well as extra pull tabs on the tongue, rounding out the enhancements added to the shoe in Errolson Hugh’s vision.

Acronym Presto Mid V1 in Olive

Of course, since the shoe looked damn good, people were quick to smother all over it and depleting it for the rest of us, but not to worry. The sequel is here, and it’s brighter than ever (pun intended).

The v2 retains all the same physical aesthetics as the first version, with only the palette given a change that adds an extra whiff of glitch into its design. Namely, the ‘A’ print previously found on the ACRONYM Nike Vapormax makes its comeback on the cage and front mudguard of one of the colourways, whereas elephant print that’s just a 3 As stylized and copied takes centre stage on the other two colourways.

Errolson offers three levels of boldness that you can go for, ranging from a black iteration, to one with ‘Volt’ colours on the sock, to a complete burst of the primary colour wheel with more ‘in your face’ patterns than the eye can comprehend. Overall, more in your face compared to the first one, but being emboldened with a little bit of extra never hurt anyone.

While there are no prices as of yet, the shoe will most probably retail at a cool price tag of RM850, and triple that on the resell market. So mark down the dates for Thursday, 20 September at 9am for your chance to cop your next pair of heat on Nike.com.

Take A Look At PUMA’s Biggest Concept Store In Southeast Asia

PUMA’s new direction when it comes to collaborations is interesting, in that the company brings the collaborations itself direct to consumers via an upmarket subsidiary called PUMA Selects, which mirrors the same model used by another well known retailer, H&M and its sub-brand, COS.

Spanning over 400 square feet, the newly refurbished flagship store is housed in KLCC, right smack in the middle of constant bustling traffic, showcasing the newest collections from the likes of Big Sean, The Weeknd, Shantell Martin, and most recently, Ader Error.

The launching was opened with a fashion show, debuting iconic collections that broadcast women and their individuality echoed by the #DoYou campaign, as well as honouring the 50th anniversary of the Suede silhouette, a hallmark in PUMA’s archive that still looks as timeless and elegant as when it first debuted half a century ago.

PUMA’s Southeast Asia General Manager also came down to celebrate the occasion. “We are committed to bringing in a new identity for the brand through the introduction of unique concepts that are catered to different consumer segments. We want to be innovative and trendy as we deliver high quality products to the consumers,” stated Le-Bretton. “With the launch of Southeast Asia’s biggest PUMA concept store, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and partners. Without any of you, we would not be celebrating this joyous occasion.”

Collections to lookout for would be Ader Error’s debut partnership with the brand, executing their vision of future and retro, tied together into one, or if that doesn’t suit your fancy, the whole list of collabs from PUMA’s roster of celebrities is on offer. All you gotta do is take a look.

If PUMA doesn’t suit your fancy, Timberland recently announced a collaboration with MASTERMIND.

The collection was first unveiled at his clothing label’s Paris Fashion Week of Fall/Winter 2018 earlier this year and since then, it has been slowly on the rise to be one of the most hyped sneaker release. UNDERCOVER can be considered to be an important brand to the industry and knowing their last collaboration with Nike, this collection is poised to be an instant hit.

A Homage To The End: The Air Jordan 18 Drops In 2 New Luxe Colourways

The Final Bow

A select few of beings will ever be able to leave a long and lasting legacy as impactful and recognisable as Michael Jordan, so it was a soul depleting moment for fans when the G.O.A.T stepped out of the hardwood for the last time back at the All-Star games in 2003. Naturally then, the final shoe that graced MJ’s feet, the AJ 18 was a final goodbye to the trail he’s marked out on the court. Now though, it’s making a comeback, and in better materials and colours than ever.

The Air Jordan 18 cleverly hid a few tricks up its sleeve despite its superbly clean and simple appearance. Inspiration was taken from motorsport and fast cars, a homage to Jordan’s passion for racing and the need for speed. Hence, details and cues were imbued from traditional race-car driving shoes, mixed with elements found in finer Italian dress shoes. Beneath however, presents a different story.

Carbon fibre plates were used extensively to increase torsional stiffness of the shoe, and featured a double stack Zoom Air cushioning with hidden air vents throughout, ensuring that form and function are balanced, providing MJ with the performance he needed during his last game.

Now, the retro-ed models come in 2 colourways finished in luxe suede, namely ‘Campfire Orange’ and ‘Yellow Ochre,’ engineered exactly to its original specifications, so balling is not taken out of the equation. The Air Jordan 18 Retro ‘Campfire Orange’ and ‘Yellow Ochre’ will release on Saturday, September 15 at 9AM for around RM730 for a pair at Nike.

The Iconic Timberland 6-Inch Boot Gets A Remix From MASTERMIND

The Timberland 6-inch boot is an instantly recognisable silhouette, so much that you can spot a pair from miles away with extreme ease from its iconic ‘wheat’ colourway, and coupled with solid build quality, there isn’t much to improve upon unto an already established shoe. That is, unless you’re Masaaki Homma of MASTERMIND.

No stranger in the streetwear sphere, MASTERMIND is known for its monotone designs, primarily white graphics on black, featuring a skull and crossbones motif, attached to a mortgage worthy price tag for good measure. This collaboration then, serves as a little bit of an introduction to the MASTERMIND world through a collab built upon solid foundations of quality.

The boot is the highlight of this capsule, remade to be an inch shorter, with a zip in the medial side for easy entry and exit. MASTERMIND in Old English is embroidered on the colour, and the silhouette is finished off with the crossbones motif embossed on the heel. Details include gold eyelets and co-branded hangtag.

2 colours are available, one in standard ‘wheat’ colourway, or MASTERMIND’s choice of ‘jet black’ with a white collar. The capsule is rounded off with oversized tees, joggers, and sweat shorts, all clad in the same colours and feature heavy co-branding on each piece of apparel, but that’s not really important. What’s important is the price, and the price of the boot retails at a chump change of RM 1499. Stock is in very limited quantities, and is only available at Isetan The Japan Store, starting on the 14th of September. Y’all gonna give this a cop?

Why Nicol David Is The G.O.A.T

(Written by Zaaim Hariz)

With the recent record of a gold (5th gold medal overall) and a bronze medal on what seems to be her last appearance in the Asian Games, is there any better way to make an athlete’s birthday week greater? The world-renowned athlete is no stranger when it comes to her achievements but being proclaimed as the GOAT?  Nothing beats that.

According to a poll that was made by Professional Squash Association website (PSA World Tour), Datuk Nicol Ann David have been voted by thousands of squash fans as the greatest player in squash history, or simply the ‘Greatest Of All Time’ as how the millennials would say. Where do we even begin? What did our beloved Malaysian icon do to be considered the greatest squash player of all time?

Well for a start, David had a great start to her career as she is the first player of either gender to win the World Junior title twice. David holds the longest reigning number one spot in the history of Squash for an impressive 109 consecutive months from 2006 to 2015.

We are fortunate to see the rise of her glittering career as she managed to rake in over 8 World Championship titles, 81 PSA titles (Yes, 81), 5 British Open titles and 2 Commonwealth Games gold medals. With all of that said, she just scored her 5th gold medal in the Asian Games.

Rightly after the announcement, she went to twitter to express her excitement and appreciation:

A well-deserved, Datuk Nicol Ann David is here to stay and we have never been so proud of what she have achieved with her ever-glowing career.

Dr. Woo & Converse Returns To Release Another Pack With Some Tearing Action

Converse teams up with world-renowned tattoo artist Dr. Woo once again for another collaboration. The latest collaborative capsule consists of four shoes, two for adults and two for children.

“The shoe is a culmination of all things that I love – vintage, the wearing in of your own clothes, how it keeps developing, transitioning, and how the Chuck, specifically, can stay in your life so long. The way you receive your shoe is not the end game. It is fully pliable and moldable to however the wearer wants to wear it. Putting your shoe through that is the reward, seeing how it gets beat up”, Woo says.

Similar to the Air Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain”, the more the consumer wears this latest collaborative pack, the outer layer of the uppers will wear away further revealing a wildly-designed set of colorful graphics beneath. Besides aesthetics, durability is priority, therefore three-layer GORE-TEX fabrics are added to the uppers which recreates a water and wind resistant effect. Woo drew both designs on the children’s pair dubbed the Mellon and Horizon Blue colorway as a symbol to reinterpret iconic Converse prints. Consumers may expect a semi-translucent vulcanized sole unit and Woo’s signature eye motif on the toe cap, completing two intriguing looks for adults.

If you are planning to purchase a pair, the pack will be releasing exclusively at Crossover Mid Valley tomorrow (6th of September). You probably wouldn’t want to miss out on a shoe which looks better with more wear. #teamwearyourshoes

By now, you would have probably familiarised yourself with the Nike Zoom Fly and the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% which is associated with Nike’s Breaking2 project. Iiud Kipchoge, the fastest marathoner ever and members of the media have expressed their opinions on the silhouette and have agreed with the claims of it being the ‘fastest shoe on the planet’.
