The Zebra 350s Will Be Having A Massive Restock

Coke On Her Black Skin Made A Stripe Like A Zebra, I Call That Jungle Fever

Is what Kanye was singing way before he decided to do the Yeezys, and look at what a massive success that has been. The 350s have been a worldwide phenomenon, spawning several high profile colourways that became the grails of many wannabe hypebeasts and collectors throughout the world. The ‘Zebra’ was one of them, a highly coveted colourway only coming second to the ‘Semi Frozen Yellow’ in terms of rarity, and now, that’s all about to go down the trash.

Because a MASSIVE restock of the ‘Zebras’ are dropping soon next month.

According to Instagram account dropinfos, Adidas.com and yeezysupply.com will be hosting the restock on November 9. A total of 164,000 pairs are set to be sold, so be ready to drop some cash and add another to your collection. You’ve got the Creams, why not double down on the Zebras too?

PUMA Calls Up Karl Lagerfeld For Next Collab

Wait, Hold Up

Karl Lagerfeld is by and large, an eccentric character. He carries a certain personality one would describe as a fashion snob who only looks a certain way at certain items, and who wouldn’t? After helming esteemed fashion house Chanel and his own namesake brand to great success, a certain level of expectation towards products and design naturally come along with it.

So imagine our surprise when PUMA announces a collaboration with him, a menswear and womenswear capsule consisting of 13 pieces and 2 pairs of PUMA Suedes.

Of course, we have our sceptical moments concerning the collection, but the ready-to-wear looks promising. Blending in Karl’s prowess in fashion and PUMA’s direction to apparel, the capsule forms a chic, contemporary fusion of Lagerfeld’s trademark design aesthetic with PUMA’s sporty, street style looks.

What you’ll come to notice first, is the tuxedo inspired looks of the collection. For women, a T7 track jacket with matching pants and T7 Jumpsuit is drawn with inspiration to the tuxedo, a different take on the iconic track jacket with 7mm stripes.

Men’s get a slim fit hoodie and matching sweatpants with a logo tee. The collection is further complemented with a backpack, shoulder bag, and baseball cap that features co-branding.

Of course, a PUMA capsule won’t be complete without the company’s halo street silhouette, the Suede. And it gets a bit of a decisive makeover in this edition. 2 iterations will be made available in unisex format. A black and white version presents itself with a tuxedo motif on the tongue, and a Karl Lagerfeld cartoon graphic on the tab. The other version is a little bit more palatable, featuring a white-on-black design; black Formstrip onto white suede with detachable rubber sunglasses. Co-branding on the tongue finishes off the design.

Ranging from RM170, to RM670, the whole collection will be available nationwide this Friday, 19/10/18 at PUMA KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, while footwear will be available at PUMA KLCC, Sunway Pyramid, and Crossover stores.

Treat, No Trick: Off-White Kuala Lumpur Will Be Raffling The Blazer Halloween Pack

If you’ve attended Sneakerlah the past week, you’ll have come across a few pairs of the Off-White Blazers “All Hallows Eve” and “Grim Reaper” colourways. The plugs who got these were most probably from international stocks, which explains the steep price at the resell booth if you were to cop a pair. Now though, local pairs have been made available, courtesy of Off-White Kuala Lumpur.

For those who still don’t know or are oblivious to the hype, the Off-White Blazers represent the next step in Virgil Abloh’s ‘The Ten’ collection, introducing alternate colourways from his original concept that is fast being diluted into just another shoe. Halloween themed colours are employed, with the “All Hallows Eve” colourway featuring an orange swoosh against a cream background, while the “Grim Reaper” sports a simple dual tone colourway of white on black.

Retail prices for a pair of these basketball turned skate shoes are approximately RM 550, but resell prices are quickly rising to almost 700% its retail value. We’ll update the article as soon as more details are available.

What Went Down At Sneakerlah 2018

Sneakerlah, upon arriving wasn’t what I expected it to be. What greeted me at the front of the door was a long line of visitors eagerly waiting to enter the venue, faces a bit wrought with drowsiness as the targeted age group wakes up before their usual time to attend Malaysia’s biggest sneaker event. Sneakerlah has found a new home at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, a massive step-up from last year’s venue at KL Convention Centre. 3 times the space, in fact.

The only similarities between last year’s event and this year’s were the retention of the VIP system, whereby visitors who purchased the VIP ticket will gain 2-hours early access to all the vendors and booths for first dips on items before the door opens to the general public at 12pm. The number of vendors who set up shop here were in staggering numbers too; as much as 26 brands participated in this edition of the convention, including Skechers, Asics, Timberland, Royal Sporting House, Nasty, Vans, and Puma to name a few.

This year also extends extra hall space dedicated to F&B vendors. Sjora, Nachoslah, and Yoohoo Hot Dogs provided patrons with food and beverages!

Vespa took the opportunity to launch three new models, Primavera MY18, Sprint MY18, and GTS 300 Super Sport. Skechers also brought about Chutimon Cheungcharoensukying (Best known for her lead role in Bad Genius) for an appearance as a brand ambassador.

Fit game was on point too, with some patrons bringing out their grails from the closet to wear at the event. Rare spots include the “Kid Robot” Air Max 1, AFEW Asics Gel-Lyte 3, Tom Sachs Nike Mars Yard, yet to be unreleased Yeezy 350 V2 “Static,” and the Off-White Converse v2.

The trading pit also made a return, with goers eager to try and cop some steals. Someone went up and held up his Supreme x Louis Vuitton belt and clutch; RM17,000 to take both home!

The day drew to a close with an eclectic list of artists. Nazkimo took the helm first, followed by Curzon from BATE, and finished with an energetic set by Aman Ra.

The energy maintained for the 2nd day, as the Trading Pit opens a bit earlier at 2PM, followed by a lacing competition hosted by Timberland, with the winner walking away with a pair of 6-inch boots.

Vans brought with them a miniaturised version of House Of Vans to Sneakerlah, featuring a half-pipe, waffle station, a surprise guest who’s none other than Pa’Din Musa, and a workshop hosted by Mark Ong, otherwise known as world-renowned sneaker customizer, Sabotage.

More performances continued courtesy of Raising The Bar’s brightest talents, from the likes of A-Kid, Pele L, and Kayda. Blink also rose to the stage to bring familiar club sounds to the main stage, maintaining the energy through the night. It all ends with the giveaways, where 2 Vespa scooters are on the prize pool. Sneakerlah partner AirAsia was also on the roll, giving away free tickets to Japan, Hokkaido and Osaka through Sneakerpoly contests, and photo contests on Instagram.

Shoes were also given out, with the prize pool snowballing up to six pairs before someone was called up and took the prize home. From multiple activities in different booths, Sneakerlah still manages to retain the core that makes it so popular, the love for all things sneakers. It’s no longer just an exhibition for shoes, it’s a convention. A mecca to those who enjoy streetwear and its subcultures. It’s a melting that should be celebrated, and nothing is more fitting than a full house of like-minded individuals sharing and enjoying the culture under one roof.

Nike SB Makes A Comeback To The Streets With Their Collaboration With The NBA

With Nike SB and skate shoes getting back in trend, the Swoosh and NBA have collaborated to release three iconic Swoosh Brand SB silhouettes. If there’s one thing we realized, its that the sport of basketball and skateboarding are connected at their core which may be observed based on the similarity in terms of style when it comes to the footwear designed for both sports. The Dunk and the Blazer were initially designed for basketball but eventually made their way to the streets for skateboarding.

The pack comes equipped with the Association’s signature Jerry West logo and a build of materials like no other which includes satin, suede and tumbled leather. Unlike other countries, we’re only getting 2 models, but that’s okay. We’d wager these are the better 2 out of 3, and you’ll be getting the bang out of your buck.

If you are planning to switch up your rotation, the Dunk (RM495) and Blazer (RM369) is available now on Nike. Unfortunate for us that the Bruin silhouette from the pack isn’t available locally, but snatch the others before its too late.

Bell & Ross Showcases The BR-01 Laughing Skull

Time To Get Your Halloween Flex

You can forget about your “All Hallows Eve” Off-White Blazer. This is the proper party piece.

You may have seen a few Bell & Ross watches that forego the standard circular dial for an actual skull face one, but this one is a little bit special, in the sense that the mandible of the skull moves with each tick.

Starting all the way back in 2009, the skull watch has been one of Bell & Ross’s more eccentric choices. First editions include a completely blacked out dial with the skull motif also in varying shades of black. This has then evolved into what you see today, the BR-01 complete with a moving mandible, courtesy of an automaton movement. Details are everywhere, from the face that’s been microblasted to perfection, as well as swords for the minute and second hands, coated in Superluminova.

The skull face is not only just an aesthetic feature however. Pirates, as it’s been well documented have considered it a talisman that carries courage and frightens off enemies. The military also adopts the same motif, but to remind them of their own vulnerability in their line of work, and the BR-01 pays tribute them all.

Thinking of getting one? Only 500 units will be made, and each one will cost RM 43,400. The timepiece is already available for purchase at Pavilion KL, Gardens KL, Gurney Plaza Penang, and selected retail stores.

Rozella Drops Another Single Called XOXO

Written by Zaaim Hariz

With the success of “Home to You”, which serves to be the predominant introduction of her music to the scene and not forgetting that it was remixed by the popular Scottish act CHVRCHES, Rozella is back with her latest single titled “XOXO”.

The Sabahan’s singer-songwriter took a different and yet similar approach with her series of love songs and for her latest single, which was recently featured on 11 Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, this upbeat and catchy bubble-gum pop is surely not to be missed by the mainstream listeners. In some ways, it can be described as a slowed-down version of “T.G.I.F” by Katy Perry, as this song brings us into a melodic tune of teenage romance that ache for affection of one another.

XOXO is available to stream on all major streaming platforms.

The Nike X Kendrick Lamar Cortez Basic Slip Is Dropping This Weekend

The Cortez has a rich history behind it. While not only holding the title of the world’s first modern running shoe, the silhouette too has significant cultural impact amongst African American communities in Los Angeles, specifically around the Compton region, and it’s only fitting that Rap King Kendrick Lamar befits the legacy of the shoe.

While previously having released two hotly contested shoes in the form of the “DAMN.” Cortez, and the “Kung-Fu Kenny” editions, Lamar presents a more relaxed, stripped down version of the Cortez which admittedly, is a bit of an acquired taste. The Basic Slip rids itself of the laces, instead replacing it with an oversized tongue with a drawstring on the heel tab. Canvas makes the upper, in simple colours, white top, blue swoosh, with orange stitching and highlights. The shoe is finished with “House Shoes” stitched on a grey tongue. A tip is printed inside the shoe collar, advising wearers that the shoe looks best with shorts and tall socks. Neat stuff.

Compared to the previous two releases, this is a bold reinterpretation from a different angle. It takes out any of the street readiness that the other two possessed, and instead tones it down to be a more domesticated shoe. Kind of like as it say, house shoes. A pretty cool concept in our opinion.

The Cortez Basic Slip Retails for RM 358 ringgit and releases this Sunday at Nike.com. Will you be adding these to the collection?

Alexander Wang Keeps The Heat Up With New Uniqlo Partnership

Ready To Wear Heat. Literally.

A decade later, and Alexander Wang is back in bed with Uniqlo. This time however, the man will be designing underwear, imbued with Uniqlo’s HEATTECH fibres into each apparel for a snug and warm fit, everytime.

Alexander Wang said, “When I look into expanding into additional categories, I seek out partners that really can innovate the product we make and how our fans can access it. UNIQLO are the ideal partners for this collection of innerwear because we share an appreciation of functionality and utilitarianism, and I am thrilled our collaboration has resulted in developing a new HEATTECH line; the perfect place to pick up from where we left off ten years ago.”

Yuki Katsuta too shares the same thought as Alexander.  “Alexander first collaborated with UNIQLO ten years ago on the UNIQLO Designers Invitation Project. At the time he greatly impressed me with his ability to identify trends. I hope that consumers can enjoy this new dimension in HEATTECH, which takes our long-selling line beyond its innerwear origins by augmenting its functionality with Alexander’s inspiring design.”

While there are no product photos as of yet, we speculate that the new line will mostly consist of just underwear. Don’t fret though, because Uniqlo’s underwears are some of the best at the price point, and we’re intrigued to see what Alexander has in-store for his reiteration of undies. We’ll update this article when more details are released.

OBSCR Brings A Little Bit Of UK Rave Culture To Our Shores

“Saturday night in South London 100’s of young people are gathering for the latest craze, an acid house party in a diffused warehouse.”

Streetwear has always been about the sharing of different landscapes across creative borders, and OBSCR has implored upon that with the introduction of their latest capsule collection that highlights the 80s rave movement in the UK. Imagine the narrative. Parties were held in illegal warehouses. Acid House has garnered a bad name, surpassing even cult status almost that brought forth negative influences into the scene. However, through the lens of others, the scene was referred to as the ‘Second Summer Of Love,’ showing a decline in football hooliganism as more and more of the youth attended these events and instead enjoying the music and partying instead of fighting.

Referencing that, the collection then reflects on the positive aspects: togetherness, happiness, and positivity. Hence the collection aims to bridge those aspects with the underlying theme of Acid House, and we think it’s done rather well.

11 items are split into 2 drops, whereby the first one is already available on the OBSCR webstore. More details on the second drop will surface on OBSCR’s instagram page, so keep a lookout on that. Like what you’re seeing so far?
