Siti Nurhaliza’s HOPE Campaign 2016
We bet all of you know our very famous Malaysian singer and fashion designer Siti Nurhaliza. Though some may be unaware that she also has her own cosmetics company, SimplySiti that recently collaborated with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) to officiate the “Hope Campaign” to reach out to women in Malaysia on Cervical Cancer Prevention. It aims to raise awareness on cervical cancer while educating women on how to detect it before it’s too late.
“Besides breast cancer, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in Malaysia,” Siti told BH Online.
“At least 80% of women, who are active sexually, can be infected by the HPV virus that causes cervical cancer at least once in their lives. Around the world, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer that affects women. Over 265,672 women die from this disease, with 99% of women affected by the HPV virus. Every two minutes around the world, a woman dies from cervical cancer,” she added.
She also said that age does not affect the chances of getting the virus.
How does the campaign work you ask? Well here’s how :
