Monorif “Take Me Down” Music Video

Monoriff – a homegrown band based in Kuala Lumpur – was founded by Niralji Ravishanker and Rakesh Joshua Daniel, a bunch of college truants who wanted to do something more in life. What was initially a five-member alternative rock outfit became infused with various other genre influences over the years, and now it currently exists as two-man team.

As we mention before on our previous post, following the duo’s release of their first single “Killing Your Own”, they intended to do a collaboration before the release of their next single, “Take Me Down”. But this time around the duo’s have just releases the songs in a form of music video. So long story short, the music video visualizes about a broken relationship, contemplation and random shots of band mates walking around the city (maybe if you watch the video you’ll probably get the bigger picture out of it).

The song was supposed to be a simple, easy and a straightforward piece, which is what it is. Unfortunately the collaboration didn’t work out and they put it aside while working on other songs. The inception of the song came out of the need for a collaboration. It was written and arranged in a day but its development into the finished result today took a few months

Check out the duo’s latest single “Take Me Down” on the above:

“Tayang Sulit” by Killeur Calculateur

Killeur Calculateur is definitely a force to be reckoned with; ever since the release of their highly-anticipated LP titled the “Book of Flags” in 2014, the band has been touring the local circuit in all states of Malaysia and Singapore, followed by an extensive Indonesian tour. The band not only received rave reviews from the South East Asia independent music scene, but also on an international level (France & Spain) for their exceptional 1st album and high-octane lives shows.

Today, our homegrown punk band has taken their music to the next level with their debut Malay track title “Tayang Sulit”. The highly anticipated single, which was released on 7th January 2017 was crafted by all four members of the band and produced by Ham Abdullah of Seven Collar T-Shirt. The track has received a lot of positive feedback within the urban music scene and what we can say the bands latest track is undeniably different from their previous material. Where there’s a noticeable hint of math rock element within this single while staying true with the bands roots. The music video was shot and directed by Tepyorke and filmed in a local punk house called Rumah Api. Local photographer, Shafiq Sani, also captured exclusive behind-the-scenes visuals.

For some people if track really not your cup of tea then you might as well wait for the band to release their other upcoming track that will soon be release. Why not judge for yourself and listen to Killeur Calculateur latest offering “Tayang Sulit” on the above.

OBSCR X City Boys FC Capsule Collection @SHUKYU Shop

OBSCR and City Boys FC will be launching their first ever capsule collection collaboration which will be exclusively made available at the SHUKYU Shop POP UP @ Vacant, Tokyo on the 25th-26th March 2017. The SHUKYU Shop will be a curation of creative brands from Japan (City Boys F.C.), South Korea (Nivelcrack) and not to forget Malaysia (OBSCR) in showcasing the different culture of football through lifestyle, art, and fashion.

This is the first collaboration between Kuala Lumpur-based label OBSCR with Tokyo’s City Boys F.C. in a capsule collection entitled “EQUALITY” that strongly emphasizes on football beyond racial barriers, football promotes diversity and football is respect. With racial incidents that are being faced throughout the nation, we want our voices to be heard and continue to fight against racism no matter how big or small we are. Football is a beautiful game that speaks a universal language around the world. It may be called football, or soccer but the spirit of the sport remains.

The collection comprises of 3 items:

Foot-ccer Hoodie: A split tone hoodie that embodies the name of the game in two different diction, which is Football and Soccer with a respect patch and ball embroidery on each side complementing with the OBSCR signature reflective strip on the back.

Respect Tee: A t-shirt with the word Respect printed boldly on the back and the graphic on the front was inspired by the 1910 painting by Henri Matisse entitled La Danse. We want to depict that no matter what race we are, we can all come together in unity to celebrate and play football.

El Tigre Tote Bag: A tote bag that commemorates the late Arthur Friedenreich, who was a Brazilian football player with the nickname ‘El Tigre’. During his football career, he has faced countless of barriers because of racism. We want to pay tribute to him, and serve as a reminder that football must be a beautiful game.

The collection will be available Online on the 27th of March and it will also available at Crossover Concept Store, Mid Valley & Crossover Sunway Pyramid. In the meantime, stay tune to any future updates by following their official page on Facebook and Instagram.
