The Yeezy Desert Boot Is Releasing This Weekend

From the latest leaks of the new Yeezy 350 V3, West has turned his attention into making his own boot, which is basically a 500 with a higher cut sock.

First dropping in a “Salt” colourway, the model will release not only for adult size, but for kids as well as toddlers to rock should they choose to. Coming in at only RM 900, this variation sits very close to the Yeezy 500 in terms of price, and can be a worthy alternative should you choose to wear a high cut model.

The Yeezy Desert Boot is available to purchase on adidas.com this Saturday.

White Mountaineering Adds Its Own Twist To The Adidas Nite Jogger

Japanese outfit White Mountaineering has long been a collaborator with Adidas, and this next collaboration with the Nite Jogger carries their efforts forward into a more trek-leisure style.

The Nite Jogger in question is left relatively untouched for the most part, sans the bold White Mountaineering logo in the lateral panel. The brand’s logo is also present on the heel cup, depicting that this is a collaboration model. What helps sets it apart more, is the use of White Mountaineering specific palettes. 2 scales of colours adorn the model, a bright orange, green, burgundy and white mix, as well as another monochrome model, flanked with hits of red on the panels.

The White Mountaineering X Adidas Nite Jogger is available to purchase now at adidas.com for a price of RM 800.

NJWA Magnifies The Stigma Surrounding Interracial Love In New Single, Take Love Back

Written by Evely Tan

NJWA isn’t afraid to border on the sensitive, and for her new song, “Take Love Back,” the alternative R&B artist comes in close and personal to an issue many of us have faced, interracial love.

The music video features a special cameo appearance by co-stars of ‘Sepet’, Sharifah Amani and Ng Choo Seong with a moving monologue about love and devotion. With the mesmeric vocals of NJWA and her modern down-tempo R&B sounds makeweight to her music video with dancers, Grace Ng and Nabil Zakaria who eloquently portray the song’s anecdote through an emotive dance performance.

“With a track like ‘Take Love Back’, it was important that the music video strongly represented the essence of the song and conveys how I truly feel about this matter. Despite being a melting pot of cultures, diversities and ethnicities, Malaysia still has a long way to go in terms of tolerance and understanding,” said NJWA.

Check out the MV for ‘Take Love Back’, a scrupulously-choreographed video that expatiate upon the song’s exploration of the highs and lows of modern interfaith and interracial romance experiences.

Blacking out, or murdered out seems to be a trend that’s picking up again, particularly in the notions of football, but the whole idea hasn’t exactly escaped the realm of streetwear completely, as exemplified by Hype Clothing.

Bell & Ross Launches The BR 05 For The Urban Explorer

Before this, you would go to Bell & Ross to fulfill either one of 3 things, timepieces for land, air, and water, or if you’re an incredibly rich socialite who thrashes on a daily basis, all three. But none have exactly fulfilled the role of Urban. A relatively difficult niche to define, urban has probably been circle-ified to basically just contain practically dress watches and smart watches. And completing its circle, Bell and Ross have introduced this, the BR 05.

From the first look, we notice that Bell & Ross has retained the same type of watchface, encased in a sleek, thin, polished stainless steel material that looks seamless thanks to matching the bracelet and case together.

The edges have also been softened, for a more rounded square finish with a round face as per the Bell & Ross standard. The watch is also powered by Bell & Ross’s proprietary BR-CAL.322 movement, with a new balance wheel manufactured exclusively for the watch.

The BR 05 comes in three dial colours (Silver, Black, Blue), and can be optioned with metal or rubber straps for a price range of RM 19,000 to RM 22,000 entry price. The watch can be purchased at all Bell & Ross authorised dealers and online.

REVIEW: ‘Rouge’ By Yuna

Written by Evely Tan

It’s safe to say whatever doubts you had about Yuna’s star studded feature list have been quelled, because I’m setting the record straight; “Rouge” is a straight up message of being confident in your own skin that struggles a little bit when it comes to solidifying her sound, but delivers a performance that raises the par with every song.

Of course, in the grander scheme of things, self-confidence has always been a long standing issue, and in her 4th album, Yuna wanted to address the matter of being bolder, being braver, being more her. On her interview with the Billboard on “Rouge”, she went on about the inspiration of her album title,

“I’ve always felt like red is such a bold colour and I felt like, “Oh, maybe it’s not for me.” Even the colour, the lipstick colour is maybe not for me. That’s always been the person that I am. And now I feel like, you know what? I’m a little older, a little wiser now. I’m entitled to feel angry or passionate, sexy.”

The previous singles from the album previews a little bit of the direction at which Rouge is taking, starting from the well known disco-esque beat of “Blank Marquee.” Strong is the word, as Yuna reminds anyone that’s trying to take advantage of her that they’ll be nothing on their own. Clear from her previous efforts, this is a departure from her typical ethereal sound, instead taking a more hip-hop, R&B approach to her music. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, considering Yuna’s usually dreamy vocals are now interlaced with a much more wider palette that encompasses multiple genres all at once.

During certain parts of the album however, the inconsistencies in between start to show; where songs like ‘Amy’ and ‘Does She’ perform beautifully with Masego and Jay Park complementing her flow, Tyler, The Creator tanked his verse in what could become a potential highlight of the album.

Here’s where it gets interesting though. As you progress to the album, you’ll eventually come across ‘Tiada Akhir,’ the only Malay song present in the album. A “Syair” type of songwriting, ‘Tiada Akhir’ speaks of loss, veering on a betrayal of feelings against a rainy backdrop that jabs the needle of sorrow, piercing directly into the heart as Yuna sings about a piece of her that she cannot regain. The song presents itself as a peak into another side of her, one that diverges onto the path of the morose, and one that I think she can hauntingly carry to such shocking beauty. Alas, glimpses are all we’re going to get, but with each peg that she’s put on her musical journey, the trajectory that she’s puts herself on spans far and wide, and “Rouge” is just the first step.
