Royal Selangor Celebrates 80 Years Of Batman By Recreating The 2nd Batmobile In Pewter

Regardless of whether you were team Marvel or team DC, there’s no doubt that Batman was present in every boy childhood life, and for the character’s 80th anniversary, Royal Selangor has decided to commemorate the Dark Knight’s debut back in 1939 with a recreation of the 1966 Batmobile.

The 60s was an important year for Batman, as this was the period of time where the Caped Crusader made his transition from print to screen, subsequently darkening his character and portrayed as the brooding, always serious figure that we’ve come to know and expect.

Apart from the Batmobile, the vehicle is sat atop of a bonded porcelain plinth finished in matte black, with details such as a spiral engraved in the plinth, juxtaposed with Batman’s opening symbol spinning away to mimic the distinctive scene transitions on screen. Limited to 3000 pieces worldwide, the 1/32 scale replica is available to purchase at any Royal Selangor retail outlet or online.

Featuring Continental Vulcs And Adilettes

Recall that recently, Adidas held a pop-up in New York with Arizona Iced Tea to sell the Yung-1 and Continental 80 for a whopping 99 cents, causing a riot, prompting another memory of the infamous Pigeon Dunk riots in 2005. It was just bad throughout, but it was good publicity for the brand, one that could not have struck a closer chord to the drinks brand than any of their previous collabs thus far.

Now, capitalising on the popularity, the collab carries on to its next iteration that features 2 new silhouettes, namely the Continental Vulcanised and Adilette slides, all done in the same Arizona Iced Tea patterns and colours that made up the first line.

Paying homage to a different drink flavour, the Continental Vulc and Adilette reflect on their respective thematics, Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey, Lemon, Mucho Mango, and Watermelon. The Continental Vulc and Adilette is priced at RM 420 and RM 170 respectively.

Margasatwa Plays A Medley To The Ganja In Their Latest Music Video, Asmara Botol Kaca

Margasatwa has once again releases another bop with their latest release ‘Asmara Botol Kaca’ along with an official music video. This is the first single from their album to be released soon. 

The music video starts out strong with an assembly of trumpets, setting the tone of the song to an upbeat rhythm that has a slight comedic bop to it, in a love letter to none other than the devil’s lettuce. The plot splits out into 5 different members going about in their daily activities, and after each of them facing troubles, picks up the phone and calls an unknown number. With each member showcase, it is made apparent to the viewer that the band member is increasingly intoxicated on an unknown substance, seeing as pictures move, and a bird turn to smoke. The group then congregates into the mini-van seen and goes on a presumably flying road trip.

The overall ambience of the music video brings out the mood and the ‘mellowdic’ feel for a road trip soundtrack to vibe with and just taking in the scenery along the drive. Watch the video now and engulf yourself in the visuals of psychedelia.

The band is a locally based half psychedelic, half indie rock ensemble consisting of 5 individuals from 5 different states of Malaysia. Margasatwa is known for its unique conceptual performances like reciting a poem, acting and auctioning their own painting.

 

Nike Drops The Air Max 90 Viotech 2 With A Full Size Run

The Japan-exclusive colourway first seen on the ‘Viotech’ Dunk Low back in the 2000’ has been reinvented into the Air Max 90 featuring a high spirited colour palette; purple, blue, orange and teal tones. 

With the purple painted on the mudguard, the blue, orange and teal tones appear on the rest of the upper suede. This silhouette is topped with a combination of a grey mesh tongue and a black leather tongue badge. The ‘Viotech’ Air Max 90 is finished off with a white/orange midsole and a multi-colour outsole. Other than the all too familiar Dunk Low, the ‘Viotech’ colour has also been featured on the atmos x Nike Air Max 1 back in 2003 including the Safari and DLX.

Spooky Wet Dreams Speaks Of Innocent Love In Their Latest Music Video, Virgin

From the hits of ‘Merdekakah?’ and ‘Sayang, Tolong Buatkan Abang Teh’ comes a new hit lyric video that the majority of us can relate to from days gone by of our yesteryears, being ‘Virgin.’

In the new lyric video, ‘Virgin’ shows a straightforward love story that we’ve all been through, between a young couple featuring Ze Spooky himself and Mira Azman, whereby the girl is indecisive and uncertain of her desire whilst the guy is thoroughly questioning her. 

However, in this context, with the song titled ‘Virgin’, does not specifically refer to an individual’s lack of sexual experience but more of an innocent, naive or inexperienced in a romantic relationship context and her desire that does not necessarily allude to sexual terms.

Following the theme of nostalgia that also encompasses the album ‘Koleksi Dendangan Untuk Masa Hadapan,’ the feeling is made apparent accompanied by the vocals and visuals to bring a feel of a love song that harkens back to the yesteryears of the 70s and 80s.

Nike Endows The Huarache With Adapt Technology

As Nike seeks to expand its use of Adapt technology, other models in the catalog soon will go under the knife in order to get a much needed technological upgrade. This seems to be the case for one of Nike’s most iconic lifestyle shoes, the Huarache, or as it’s now called, the Adapt Huarache.

As the name suggest, the Huarache will run Nike’s FitAdapt technology, with the motor mounted on the midfoot and controlled by the Nike Adapt app. The app is now more in-tuned with Apple Watch or Siri, including a number of preset fit recommendations based on foot type and activity. Apart from that, the sneaker’s LED lights can also be controlled on the app.

As well as having a modernised look, the silhouette also takes reference to the original Huarache with very minimal branding present on the sneaker.

First colourways are expected to drop on September 13, and will be soon made available from select retailers and the SNKRS site.

The Latest Joker Trailer Previews Human Struggles In A Very Dark Tone

Since Warner Bros. first released a teaser trailer of the new “Joker” in early April, fans have yearned to see more of Todd Philips’ Joker with Academy Award-Winner Joaquin Phoenix’s characterization of Batman’s villain in DC Comics and now the second trailer has finally been released.

Earlier before the trailer release, they once again teased the fans with six new short clips of the footage in the film on Instagram (@jokermovie), paused at the right moment, it forms a collage of a message; Trailer 828.

Strong waves of intensity and emotions wash over upon viewing the trailer. Ideally, this film set in the early ’80s portrays the vicissitude of Arthur Fleck from a deteriorated clown into a criminal intellect who roams around the Gotham City which was impelled by the societal pressure and the crumbling of his sanity.

In this new version of the joker, it carries a depth to it as Joaquin Phoenix stated, 

“I wouldn’t quite classify this as like any genre,” Phoenix told Collider. “I wouldn’t say it’s a superhero movie, or a studio movie or a… It feels unique, and I think more than anything, and probably the most important thing, is Todd [Philips] seems very passionate about it and giving, and so that’s exciting. I think, underneath the excitement of these films, and the size of them, there are these incredible characters that are dealing with real-life struggles. And sometimes that is uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it isn’t, and so I always felt, like, there were characters in comics that were really interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of studied. And so I think that’s what Todd sees appealing about this idea.”

October 4 is the due date for the release of the movie, and it’s been giving an official rating of R. Exciting times ahead

The Air Jordan 1 “Obsidian” Drops Tomorrow

UPDATE 3/9/2019: The release has been delayed to Saturday 07/09.

The University of North Carolina colourway has been the subject of numerous iterations and variations, from the highly coveted Off-White version, to the bog standard “Powder Blue” Air Jordan 1 have all been the subject of alternative desire and has become a staple part of ones collection.

Now though, Jordan brand looks to remix things a little bit by adding another layer of “Obsidian” to the palette, resulting in the model you see here. Following the “Black Toe” colour blocking, the model retains a vintage look with liberal use of “Sail” for the upper panels. The heel cup and collar remain in “Powder Blue,” but are held together with “Obisidian” underlay, while the toebox is outlined with the same dark hue.

The sole is finished off in a combination of “Sail” and “Obsidian” to round up the look.

Retailing for RM 649, this particular model seems to be a hot pick-up, so get ready for its launch tomorrow on Nike.com.

Rey May Turn To The Dark Side In The Latest Trailer For Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker

Finally, the long-anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer has just dropped from the screening at D23 convention recently and it’s full of references and hints for what’s to come in the finale of a nine movie legacy that has left us shooketh.  

It begins with a series of the most archetypal scenes from A New Hope to The Last Jedi featuring the epic soundtrack of Star Wars. The intensity then sets off with footage of the upcoming storyline revealing Princess Leia, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, Rey, and the droids all set for the final leg of their adventure.

C-3PO was seen with bloodshot eyes, either signifying that the droid is going Sith as well or the theory behind it can be someone trying to extract memories from the droid as it has been existing and able to witness the occurrences throughout the episodes. (Hence, “thousands of generations live in him now”). Of course, this is a loose assumption, but in a scenario as cryptic as this, practically anything is possible. Or it could be that 3PO has gotten a berserker mode all of a sudden. We never know.

Near the end though does the twist reveal itself as Rey stares menacingly with a never before seen red dual lightsaber, implying that Rey could have finally join sides with the Sith or it could be the vision of Palpatine showing the potential strength that Rey will possess as a pawn and manipulate her.

Regardless, the new chapter will release on the 20th of December. Christmas will definitely come early this year.
