Where To Get The New Yeezy 700 ‘Tephra’

Yeezys are a plenty this season, and Ye has certainly been busy experimenting with all sorts of colour blockings on his 700 silhouette, some to questionable tastes. But this latest one is on a neutral divide between fashion and going on full dad, but we leave that distinction up to you.

The ‘Tephra’ incorporates numerous earth tone colours upon a a 700 v2 silhouette that provides a slightly different take on the model. As with the v2, mesh is foregone and replaced with a type of knit upper as well as a 3M sidestripe sat upon a Boost footbed to provide a level of comfort that 700s are very well known for.

Now’s probably the best time to get on the 700 hype, and with the model being as abundant as ever, it shouldn’t post a problem to the first timers who want a pair.

The Yeezy 700 ‘Tephra’ releases tomorrow on the 15th of June 2019, at Adidas Originals KLCC and Crossover Mid Valley as well as Yeezy Supply online for a price of RM 1400.

2019 is a sad year for our national sportsmen and sportswomen. After the retirement of Nicol Ann David from squash, Lee Chong Wei too has decided to rest after almost 20 years of service to the Malaysian people. But the decision has been a long time coming, especially since he was admitted after being diagnosed with nose cancer.

Speaking at a press conference today at Menara KBS, Chong Wei had this to say, “Today everyone know more or less my intention for calling this press conference. I would like to announce that I’m retiring from the sport after 19 years.”

“It was a tough decision to make but I was left with no option after my recent consultation with doctors in Japan last month.

“I was given eight questionnaires to answer about my conditions and the outcome came out to show that I’m not fit to do high intensity activities. So it’s not suitable for me to exert myself for the sake of my health.”

“I want to thank you Malaysians.

“I want to thank a lot of people KBS, ISN. I want to thank all my coaches Datuk Misbun Sidek, Datuk Tey Seu Bock,” Chong Wei said while holding back a river in his eyes.

Just to get an idea of his level of achievements,

Thank you for your services to the nation Datuk. Maybe now’s the right time to bring your wife on that long awaited honeymoon.

We can always count on Royal Selangor to release some of the best pewter figurines and they did not disappoint with their latest release. Royal Selangor collaborated with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, expanding their range of Marvel characters with the Phoenix, one of X-Men’s most powerful character to grace the comics and silver screen.

Imbued with the Phoenix Force, retaining her humanity became a struggle as she valiantly fights off dark temptations of her god-like powers. Jean’s poignant story of love, power and redemption is explored in the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Jordan Brand’s First Collaboration With EU-Based Brand, Patta.

It is a surprise to many that Europe-based retailer Patta is finally collaborating with giant sneaker brand, Jordan Brand. For some of you who are not familiar with Patta, Patta usually collaborates with sneaker brands associated with running and most of the time, Patta collaborations are highly sought after.

Working on the Air Jordan 7 silhouette, Patta’s Guillaume Schmidt and Vincent Van de Waal takes inspiration from 92′ as a cultural touchpoint of their youth, paying homage to the 1992 US Olympic men’s basketball team (Dream Team) and their unique hip-hop music. The uppers feature light cream and dark brown shades with bold red accents while Patta’s branding is observed on the midsole. The collection also includes apparels inspired by a famous Jordan Brand shot back in Barcelona during the Olympics.

If you’re a fan of the 7’s, this is a must for you. The Air Jordan 7 ‘Patta’ will be releasing this weekend on the 15th of June with a retail price yet to be announced.

The Funny, The Sad, And Downright Weird Raya Ads Of 2019

With Raya closing in tomorrow and the days of fasting are winding down, it’s just about time that the tear-jerking Raya ads are out, most borne out of sadness, some borne out of laughter. Of course, there has never been any itemised stats of any kind when it comes to Raya videos, but we think the unofficial reign of TNB’s ad domination may have come to a close as the mantle changes hands to someone else. Who? we’ll let you decide after the whole lot of videos down below. 2019 presents a mixed bag of many, from the typical range of funny and sad, but now includes the downright weird. Have a look below and see what tickles your fancy.

Petronas

A perennial favourite amongst the ads, Petronas presents something a little more smaller scale an intimate this time round, focusing on the legacy of the family recipe, bringing back smells and taste only brought back by the hands of the next generation. An honest reminder that the peg stops with you to carry on any familial legacies, be it with food or anything else.

PLUS

A semi-humourous tale of a young man who seeks help from a truck driver as he misses his bus looking for the truck driver’s phone. As the young man rummages around the cab exploring and trying to kill his boredom, he comes across several memorabilia of the truck driver’s family, piquing his curiosity as to whether the truck driver has a family or not. Initially hostile, the truck driver is reminded of family once he drops his passenger off at an orphanage, only realising that the young man returns to his home, while he has been on the road, avoiding grieving pains at his own. The truck driver then calls his daughter, and asks whether can they prepare for sahur together. A real tear-jerker, and a reminder to be grateful for what you have now.

Watsons

Watsons is putting its crosshairs direct to the Gen Ys and Zs who have supposedly lost the magic of Raya, when in reality, it is up to the person to make the Raya spirit into what is has always been. The video follows a woman on her way back to the kampung, and her subsequent journey seen through the bright glasses of optimism. Wholesome, and fun throughout.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad

After much success last year with beautiful cinematography, plot, and acting, TNB seeks to repeat the magic it had, but this time focusing towards the art of convoying with your relatives. Follow along the journey of Nabila and her family as they attempt to beraya at 10 different houses in one day, encountering various different challenges that make for a light-hearted, joyous raya.

Kuih Bangkit

Possibly the darkest Raya ad we’ve ever had, full stop. The video begins with one reluctant son not wanting to return home to Kampung up until the night that his mother passed away. He and his siblings are reunited, but the sheer guilt for waiting till its too late caused him to try to take his own life, and adds on with other horrors from there on out. We won’t spoil it too much, but it’s definitely a looker, and a unique one at that.

Jinnyboy

Jinnyboy’s effort may just take top honours for tugging the most heartstrings this Raya, following the story of one we have at least encountered once in our life, getting a Raya packet with only 1 Ringgit inside. The protagonist recalls his time when his grandfather also used to give only a ringgit, but that gesture far extends beyond monetary value and transcends into a bond that no amount of money cannot buy. A symbolic gesture, that it is often the small things that matter the most.

Astro

Admittedly, your family members won’t be anything like what you will see in this ad, but for sheer comedic flair that brings together differences over at one table, Astro has got it pretty nailed down.

Grab

One of the more unorthodox entries, Grab revisits past raya ads from the yesteryears and puts its own twist on solving the problems faced in said ads, which is including all of Grab’s services into each one to hasten the process of something or help make life easier. May be a bit confusing at first, but it all makes sense once it comes together at the end.

Malaysia Airlines

One of the earlier contenders, and one that gets its theme, message, and delivery spot on. MAS puts the viewers into the perspective of a stewardess, of whom has witnessed multiple journeys, and reunions over the course of her travels. Though things change with each of the passengers, from hair colour, to bringing a new partner, or simply returning home after being gone for so long, family still remains family, and they get treated all the same, with plenty of love and care, and she’s happy to assist them on their return home to Malaysia.

Maxis

Get ready the tissue papers, as Maxis is coming in with a different take to a typical ad. The story follows along with what the audience would think is just a disobedient son, who does as he pleases and follows his own head, when it is later revealed that all of those reactions are because of his hearing disability, and through Maxis’s initiative to assist the deaf in hearing, has transcribed the Hari Raya khutbah into vibrations so the son can follow and speak as it goes along. All the more touching, and allowing us to remember to be grateful for the gifts bestowed upon us.

Jun Takahashi’s Undercover Teams Up With Nike To Remake The Daybreak

Sacai retro too wild for you, but still want a collab model that’ll turn heads? Maybe Undercover’s Jun Takahashi may have something for you with his iteration of the Daybreak.

Taking the classic Nike runner of the 80s, the silhouette’s simple construction and no nonsense styling makes it the ideal canvas for some physical modifications ala A Cold Wall*, featuring an aggressively designed heel clip that looks almost shark like, just to accentuate what the brand is all about. Other details include an underside heel tab with Undercover’s logo emblazoned on it. The midsole is also speckled for extra effect, and Undercover lettering is present on the lateral heel portion. Apart from that, everything else is relatively untouched, from the nylon and mesh construction to the foam midsole, to the genre defining waffle outsole.

2 colours are coming here to Malaysia; a blue variant and a staple black model, ensuring matchability with whatever outfit you can throw on.

The Nike X Undercover Daybreak releases on the 7th of June on Nike.com for a price of approximately RM 649.

Bryan Absolutely Hates The Travis Scott Air Jordan 1 I WDHANFTSY

Note: We’ve decided to upload it a bit earlier this week in preparation for Raya holidays later. Sorry for not sticking to the schedule.

We admit, opinions have been split with the new Travis Scott Air Jordan 1, with the purists (aka Bryan) going what the f*ck is this reverse swoosh, and hype bois (aka Julian) going all woozy for the Travis’s apparent reservoir of creativity that has resulted in this Air Jordan 1 that you see today. Watch the video above to watch Julian (mostly) break down the details of the shoe, including the hidden pocket, use of high quality materials, and how the pink laces complete transforms the look of the shoe, much to Bryan’s chagrin. Would you cop?
